Default New Laptop

I've been looking around for a new one.

I quite fancy this and would appreciate your comments as I know a few of you have bought a Dell.

I do a lot at once so I would go for the 4gb ram with the 250hd

XPS M1530 Laptop

I've never used one before, but i hear the XPS series laptops are very very good.

Just a small thing, 32bit vista will only utilise somewhere around 3.5gb of ram. To use the full 4gb you will need to get the 64bit version of vista. Probably won't notice any/much difference anyway.

Yeah, what you really want in a computer is something flashy that breaks down all the time, like the TVR of the PC world

I'd like to know what's dull about them.

Thats what I use, the 64-bit version. Only problem with that is there is a lot of software in particular drivers, that are not compatible with the 64-bit version.
64-bit users are almost treated like 2nd class citizens
Had a 64-bit version of Linux (CentOS), and found out, adobe dont even make a reader, or a flash player for it!!

But 3.5gb of RAM is more than enuff to handle simultanous applications, thats a lot of porns-worth

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 its a couple of years old, had all the warranties with it, had just 2 problems with it in that time, I called the customers services help desk, and problem resolved by the next day engineer coming out and doing the repair.

We also have everything dell at work, I rate the machines as very good an customer service as excellent.

my mrs has had a fair bit of trouble with dells before and their basic models are very basic and add ons are dear
you can probably find a cheaper deal on a better unit anyway

gotta admit my hp has been brillianthad it nearly 2 years .
never had a problem even though its been airbourne a couple of times if i've lost connection during a big game
very fast(much faster than any of the dells my mrs has had) and more software as well and it was only £300 from currys or dixons, cant remember which
