Laptop is 18 mths old Plenty memory spare, but does get used a lot. I would say it is virus free at the mo. Full Scan, registry cleaned, adaware etc ... no major problems. This has happened 3 times so far in last 2 days, any ideas? Whilst watching a full screen Youtube the screen went completely blue, no cursor, nothing, CTRL ALT DEL ...... nowt had to disconnect the power. The last time it happened i was browsing here, screen went completely white though and again had to disconnect power to switch off. The computer? The user? help please ![]()

This can be caused by many things. Have a look at the Event Log (In XP, go to Start/Control Panel/Performance-Monitoring/Admin Tools/Event Viewer). Some cryptic details of the fault will be recorded there. Try an alternative browser - if that works fine, it is likely a software memeory management conflict issue. Clean out all temporary files from current browser. May be a fault with your RAM memory. Try reseating RAM stick/s. Is more memory needed? Can download a live boot disk of Linux eg PCLinux which runs completely in RAM (not installed to laptop hard drive). That will test your screen/ internet with completely fresh software "installed". At worst, it may be a failing motherboard or video card (if fitted). These are easily replaced.

I know little about computers and have only just got a laptop myself. However my mate has had one for a while and his cut out before. The simple solution was the amount of dust that had collected up in the fan belts underneath. That probably won't be the problem with yours if the screen is going blue but its worth a try to have a look.
