I think the avatar needs to be a .gif file - not jpg or bmp
Depends on what you are looking for, but i think a few on here have made their own. Carl should be about soon with full instructions

Last time I tried to upload an animated GIF it said I wasn't authorised for animation I didn't follow it up.....
