Default Modding Next Gen Consoles

I recently started a new job and am doing a metric ton of overtime this month. So I've decided that once I pay my bills, etc this month im going to spend some of the surplus on a new system. I want either a DS, Wii or Xbox360.

Whichever system I buy I want to be able to install a modchip to run homebrew games and all the other goodness that modchips provide.

Can anyone reccommend a specific system and point me in the direction of a good modding site/guide?

Cheers.

Hi mate...

Nintendo DS

Buy a 'Revolution R4' along with a 2Gb micro-SD card. The R4 is basically a blank cartridge, with a slot for a micro-SD card. The SD card can be filled with NDS roms (available elsewhere on the WWW), and there's no need for any 'chips' at all. The R4 and card should come to about £30 overall. I have one, and I can get about 40 games on a 2Gb card (although you can chop and change which games you want at anytime)

Nintendo Wii

I'm still looking around as to which chip to purchase, but one that has taken my eye is what's known as a D2Pro v9 c/w Wii-Clip. It may depend on your 'version' of your Wii, but these look like a good choice. from the looks of it, the Wii clip houses the D2Pro 'chip', and the clip then slots into place on the Wii's mainboard. Again, I believe this is another 'solder-free' option. I've seen this package for sale at around £46 on the Internet.

Microsoft XBOX360

As they are about to be lowered in price in time for christmas, it is a great-value games console. As for 'modchips' for these, you would have to look around as I'm not too sure of this system. I use my original XBOX as a full media centre, packed full of videos, music, emulators, games, allsorts! In my eyes, they are alot more economical than the 360 and at a fraction of the cost!

It may help (alot) to search around You tube, Nintendo and XBOX forums for further info and advice on this topic.

Cheers

MT

Ive done this with my little girls DS, I downloaded over £700 worth of games for her.
Most games are 3-6mb so with a 2 gig card you can get shit loads on.

The XBox 360 is do-able.. playing backed up games is achieved by flashing the DVD drive with new firmware. It's also possible to get cloaked firmware & games so you can use the games on XBox live.

PSP is really easy to do too, I've got a PSP running 4.01 M33-2 custom firmware, which means I can play isos, homebrew software etc, whilst retaining all the Sony functionality.
