Default Microsoft excel...Help required

Ok, heres the deal. I have an excel document that contains 7 rows of data i insert...I then have a series of IF sums that convert whatever i put into them to another figure (like doing ratings for something). Anyway it took me about 6 hours to get all that lot working but i still have a problem...

...I have another cell that i want to total up everything in the cells with the IF formula's in but it always shows the sum as 0 for some reason. Its as if the sheet isnt reading the cells as containing numbers, but they do...

Anyone offer any help?

OK, say i have 10 cells across the top, In these i insert how many goals a team scored in there last 10 games. The next 10 cells are calculated via IF calculations to translate these for me, say if its a 1 to assign 10 points to a corresponding cell and so on.....I want then to be able to have a final cell that calculates the new figures from the calculated cells but it wont have it.

Id actually post an example here if i knew how

Have you put the 10 points in the IF statement in quotes?

It should be:

If(A2=1,10,0)

not

If(A2=1,"10",0)

Think that MAY be one possible explanation.....

To put the example up, should be able to just copy and paste (in IE, not Firefox)

Ugh, I guess il hafta bust out IE (something i NEVER like doing).

All the if calculations work ok, they are all sorted and i get a line of 10 new figures from the original data i enter and all is well....then when i set a cell to SUM all these new figures, it just always shows as 0...

..UGH, I HATE TECHNOLOGY!!!

Ok i have formulas in cells L2 to Q2 that are calculated......

=IF(G2=0,"0",IF(G2<=3,"7",IF(G2=4,"13",IF(G2=5,"11",IF(G2=6,"8",IF(G2=7,"3",IF(G2>=8,"1","0")))))))

Now that gets the results i want to, but in cell T2 im trying to get a tally of all the above mentioned cells, but it wont tally them it just keeps showing as zero.

Problem is exactly as Gaf said. Numbers in quotes are treated as plain text and wont be summed. e.g. you need to change "13" to 13 etc.
