ipod syncing problems

had a ipod earlier this week. and i'm trying to sync songs onto it with mediamonkey (as recommended by galronix)
anyway synced it last night and it only put about a 1/3rd of the songs onto the ipod.
for certain bands only 1 album was transfered to the ipod, but then there were some bands that had everything on there.
and i tried again earlier, in mediamonkey it said i had 6,500 songs in the library but when syncing it said there was 1,550 to be synced.

does anyone know an easier way to sync all my songs.

by the way, i cant hold all songs on my laptops hard drive as i only have a 40 gb memory. so i am using an external hard drive. and need to do it in 2 parts.
