Default IE has encountered a problem.........

Due to my update subscroption for norton recently running out, I deleted it and replaced it with Avast! antivirus and Zonealarm firewall, both of which I saw recommended here.

Since doing so, when I go to some sites it brings up the "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close" pop-up. This happens everytime I attempt to visit these sites its affecting.

Is it likely that the settings on the new applications has anything to do with this and would anyone know how to prevent it? No, they're not porn sites and as far as I can think none of them are password protected either.

Pop up blockers can certainly cause funny things to happen with some sites.
I'm sure someone on here will be able to assist you in "re-newing" your norton subscription I'm assuming everything worked ok with that.

I had that for weeks Working. I couldnt fix the bugger but wasn't too bothered as i use firefox now but couldnt get into Sports Punter to post my losing tips.

I fixed it accidently when i was putting some daft we flash film onto html with DREAMWEAVER and i used the preview in IE option and it seemd to reassociate itself and its been fine since.

Worth a try if your stumped as dreamweaver is only about 60mb. Radical solution possibly but give us a shout if you want more info.

Nxsecure has been down and thats where i get all my progs (and torrent) check out the thread started by Winrew in Tech forum called 'good site' or something Working and there a link there with a few upto date programs if you need them.

A FREE combo that worked for me well with both Firefox and IE is Kerio personal firewall and AVG - they are both from the same producer, but you will have to download them separately to get each of them free - Kerio is free for personal use and AVG for personal use in English-speaking countries (weird we Czech have to pay as it's a Czech proggie).

Also NOD32 + Kerio is a good combo which I am using now, but NOD is not exactly free, you see (go to olivers French page if you want it for free).

No recent experience with Avast (was poor some time ago) or ZoneAlarm (recommended bz quite a few, though)
