Default Help - converting cassettes to CD ????

Would any knowledgeable punter be able to advise on the best way to convert my cassette collection onto CD in the cheapest and fastest possible way. I have a stereo (with no digital output), a mini-plug to mini-plug connector, a laptop (with audio out and external microphone jacks, USBs, a CD-writer and no music software to edit/mark tracks)….

Although I’m starting from basics I’m guessing that I’ll have to use the external microphone jack to record the tapes onto the laptop using some music software(??) – convert to *.wav and then burn to CD.

Any help/pointers (step-by-step, no doubt) will be gratefully appreciated…..

This will do all you need. Simple take the line out sockets from your cassette player and connect them to this. The creative device then plugs into your USB port on your PC and records it with the software available. Also with the software is a wave editor. I have been using it to do LP's with. Very good piece of kit for £33 from amazon (free p&p!)

There are far greater minds than mine here at PL but this is what I've got:

You also might like to try a Google search. Or ask Jeeves who is a very intuitive kinda bloke.

Good Luck :b

It looks like more trouble than its worth mpearce, you can probably download all of you collection from DC then just convert that way. plus you may suffer a loss in quality and it will take you a while using various software getting the quality you need.
There are Hundreds of Music hubs out there and i never been unable to find what i need.

If you want to post the collection you want to convert then i'll tell you where to find them.
