Yeh the police seem pretty ballsy. I've twice been shot dead for just being crap at driving - getting a few wanted levels and before you know it bang bang they've shot me dead as i'm making my escape - Yes they shoot you through the windows - cars are no more bullet proof!

I also got Roman killed in one shootout - which ensued after some more crap driving by me - the only minor problem in this shootout was neither of us had any guns so the coppers were just rolling up car after car boxing us in taking pot shots on only 2* wanted

Have to mention the chatshow radio stations are so funny again unlike in san andreas.

Can't wait till i can get my teeth into the game properly tomorrow, no doubt on the cusp of being the best game i've ever played.

For me GTA is not about fighting or driving - if i wanted to fight i'd buy tekken, or wanted to drive would buy gran turismo so it really doesn't bother me at all.
It's about the total package of being to do whatever you want in such a vast place, whilst doing missions, creating a dynasty and going along the storyline.

From the little additions i've spotted so far from barely playing i know there's tonnes more to be done and found so it will get better and better for me. As for the missions - they always start off slow to get you used to the game - standard really .

GTA is a game that thrives on successfully combining genres mor than anything....

Yeah the driving is poor, cars handle very bad and hitting brake results in a 2 mile skid.

I actual like the fighting both fists and guns, the lock on system is good, the hid behind cover is easy to use. so all in all i think the attack/defence system is very well done

Quote:

I like some of the movements like the way his legs go when running up/down stairs, I think its ok and i think Rockstar wanna to keep it similar to the other games (same with the graphics)

Story gets better all the cutscenes DO help to understand why Nico is in Liberty city

When do you get the start menu? Whenever I've tried in the past, I've always been taken straight to the main game, without so much as a menu. The only menu that I can access appears to be reached through using the mobile phone.

In a way I think a good idea for a game would have been one in which a series of characters had been developed personally. The games were released and so you would each end up with a random character out of say the 5 or so. You then go online and can meet with the other 4, each have their own backgrounds and unique skills and then work together towards achieving a target. Not too sure how that would all work together but think it would lead to an interesting edge. Chatting with mates who had randomly bought other characters and comparing gameplay.

Djilion - the Bridge is closed because of a terrorist threat, which means you cannot cross it (i.e. they want to keep you away from that part of the map) - you will not be able to cross it till you've unlocked it....
Take some time off from your missions, let Roman and michelle talk to your voice mail, get on foot and explore the city. Breathe it all in.

Engage in some petty street crime, do some muggings to earn some cash and pick up a knife. It's harder than before, you pick up police attention really quickly. Head down to the beach and wander the sand dunes, you'll find people alone that you can attack without police attention.

The money will come in handy, and you need the practice in violence

The graphics aren't as good as Saints Row. Although in saying that, maybe the Saints Row graphics were better because i played it on a normal television. I wonder if the graphics are alot smoother without the lcd ?

Anyway, i just skipped to reply on here as i don't want to see any spoilers.

I played a couple of hourse, the first couple of tasks are easy. Most time was spent bowling and pool. My favourite thing about the game so far is the dialogue and the main character. I don't know why people are criticisng the driving, as i think the driving is very good. Using a pistol is also sweet, especially when you take cover.

I won't be rushing the tasks. There's no point in waiting so long for a game, to then just sprint through it.

One thing that i will miss from the previous GTA(SA), is the big gang shoot outs.

The game has got off to a stable start for me.

Aj, where can you get a knife from? I've tried fighting people in the street and usually what happens is one of two things:

I end up beating them, so they lay there on the floor and the people around him start circling me and trying to beat me up instead. Maybe I just haven't adjusted to the fighting skills but how do you beat up wave after wave of people? I tried to run away as my energy was going down. I ran in to Roman's house but sadly they followed and gave me an ass kicking in there too, so I ended up at the hospital!

Secondly the police just jump in and so I go racing around the city trying to evade them. I usually get quite good at this, until I hit something spectacularly and the car flips. Still most of the time I'm able to evade them.

I now have a gun as was given it by that Jamaican guy, who is impossible to understand. I just follow the instructions on the screen and hope that's right. Did that concrete jungle one mission which seemed fairly straighforward although it did include a lot of killing. I think it's amazing that the guy you play as knows instinctively where these criminals have disappeared to and can pinpoint them so accurately on the map!

Think I'm going to try that beach idea and see what happens from there. Would like to get richer, then I need to work out what you do with all the cash. Guessing that Michelle has a backstory as rich and thick as Nico's and guess you have to keep taking her out to do stuff so that the story can evolve. Just wondering where it will lead to next.

Still the game is good, it's just that there are some bits that right now I'm not as happy about. Still haven't tried online deathmatches because if I struggle to beat up people in the street, I will have no chance with the online battles.

I took a knife off a guy I fought in teh street.

If you want a gun, go to the strip club, on the way out, you'll see a door marked staff only, it contains all the CCTV stuff, there is a gun in that room.

At the strip club when you go for a lap dance, do you get proper tits or covered ones, I'm trying to work out what is missing from the Australian edition.

Haven't met the jamcian guy yet, am up to 6.69% complete.

I'm up to 97% with Michelle, anyone got her to 100% yet ?

I'm up to 100% with Michelle, managed on the 2nd date. Think that's just when you try to get invited in and get invited in for 'coffee' which should be read as just lots of her saying 'Nico you are a wonderful guy' while your controller shakes madly!

Going to have more wandering around next I think and investigating for things like the Strip Club staff room. Although I think I might have been barred as I walked up on the centre stage and the bouncer had a fight with me! And now it doesn't appear on the map! As for the strippers, they wear tit tape when they perform dances.

phone roman and ask if he wants to go out, the strip club should be an option again then.

Remember you can't go into the club carrying a weapon.

Whilst running away from the cop in my car I ended up on a trainline, I had a train behind me. I had to hammer along until we got to a station an dit stopped. It was super freaky

I tried that phoning roman thing and he kept saying that he was busy with Mali. Maybe you're right about that weapon thing and I have 2 guns now, a shotgun that kills on one shot and the normal pistol.

The trainline bit sounds crazy! I've started to outrun the police on foot, all I find you need to do is just hurdle over a load of stuff as that cuts a route they can't take and so you get the shortcuts through and cut them off quickly.

I'm back to 98% with Michelle, not sure whether it's all the people I keep running over, all the car crashes or the fact that it's a bit dull going out to do pool or cabaret and so I prefer just running around, killing and stealing money from shops!

I first got dealt with by the police when i battered the shit out of someone outside my house. They started firing at me even though i was unarmed, so i thought i'd run into the apartment to change clothes, but they follwed me up there and continuously shot me.

alright folks.

Just a wee update.

I am 21% in and i have now opened the middle island and one of the bridges is open. The missions are getting harder and a bit of recon I find helps before hitting the marker (see where escape routes are).

I have died about 10 times due the police, bad peeps and my own stupidity
and some missions have taken me about 4 times to complete.

Its getting tough to decide whos missions to accept ( I have 7 people on my mobile)

I have got used to the driving

really enjoying this now and i even managed some online, which is a fecken laugh.

for those wanting knives and guns if you follow the first wee bit of the missions you will get a knive and a gun and then biggger and better guns (i have some nice ones)

Nets been down all day then was just watching footie so haven't had chance to give more thoughts on GTA.

I just love it. Every time i drive around smashing into things or just leisurely cruising around i find tonnes of new and funny things it's impossible to name them all, but one particular is on one of my reckless driving stints i caught a hells angel walking past and jammed my car into the barrier - i thought nothing of it as i was dragged out of the car preparing myself for a fist fight when one of the hells angel's pulls a shooter out n pops one straight between my eyeballs

Also had a v weird moment after i got arrested and released - near one of the bridges - i found myself walking up tonnes of steps - i didn't look on the map to see where i was i was just in intrigued GTA mode so kept going - and going all the way along the bridge's footpath ... all the way across to the next main island ! Next thing i know i'm on 6* wanted level but the only thing in sight was a chopper so had time to go and nick a car and go cruising around the next city! Seen it in lights at night time from the first island and it looks sick but in the flesh during the day it's just so much brighter and better then the first island can't wait to get there - of course i was shot to pieces when the cavalry arrived but it was good fun!

The radio stations are brilliant, not only the chat ones but there are some great modern day songs on some of the stations it's great and i'm sure the music changes to fit the scenery sometimes like when i had 6* wanted it turned to this right dramatic music that fitted beautifully as the lights of choppers and FBI agents dawned down on me.

Another funny thing was when i highjacked a womans car - i was too slow in getting away, she caught back up and dragged me out of the car ... so i returned the favour and eventually nicked her car - the funny bit is the passers by saw her nicking 'my' car and started to bear her up

Found an amazing thing too - ATM machines ! check your balance at any time, don't know if anyone else has found it, but i love it.

Missions? Well i'm sort of drifting between them atm, not really sure what's going.
