Default Anyone recommend a PSP?

I'm toying with the idea of buying a PSP. I travel to from Aberdeen to Newcastle for the football and thought I'd get the use of a PSP. I've looked at the games available and there are a few I fancy but I'd like to know what the PSP is like for surfing th einterent. The National Express (formerly GNER) have sockets and free WiFi connectivity (I think) so thought I'd be able to browse on the train too.

SO I'm looking for someone to give a quick review on the PSP and it's features. I saw Lemonjon's post on the PS3 review about vonnecting to your PS3 which sounds good.

Cheers

We got our little lad one 2 years ago and he's hardley played on it. mainly due to the fact you have to charge it up but ive had a play on it and was very impressed by it.

We got a burnout game and another driving game for it but I always wanted Fifa for it as ive play Fifa on it and its very good.

Well worth you getting one if your gonna use it whilst travelling etc. The screen is top notch and the sound is great, get yourself a handful of games and its brilliant for passing the time on trains etc. Also get a memory card and you can use it as a MP3 player.
i dont know about the internet side of it as ive not bothered with it for that.

my 2 little girls are constantly on their DS's which are pretty good and the little lad wants one but I refer the PSP as long as you remeber to charge it up before you want to play on it.

Deffo get one

Cheers Carl. What kind of memory cards do you use, are they Memory Stick Duos? Just I have a Sony Cybershot camera and wondered if I could use my 2Gb card I use for that?

Not sure on the memory cards mate, I think they are the SD ones that are fairly cheap now

here you go :

£31 for for 4gig sounds good value.

Hi M8

I got a second hand one from Game about a month ago, I got it or the remote play function. This function allows you to play certain games that are stored on ur PS3 at home.

So at the mo I am in the office, in the house i have my 250gig external HD connected to the PS3 with remote play i can listen to any of the music stored on the HD, watch movies and view my photos. Also I have downloaded a few PSone games and that can be played via remote play.

I got a 2gig memory card for my PSP (20 quid from CEX)

The memory cards are Duo (the wide one), i have a cybershot cam aswell , but its pro so u cant use it am afraid.

Its good for connecting to the net, but may have problems with a few sites as the memory aint that big.

If your gonna be travelling alot then its a good idea as the screen and display is great and there are some good games out for it.

As for connecting to the Interent, its painless and with my BT contract i got 250 WI FI minutes a month so i can use my PSP to hook up tp my ps3 or the Interent in the Pub, Airport etc etc

I’d highly recommend a PSP mate. Get yourself a 4GB card (lemonjon's right - Memory Stick Duo is the one) and a couple of freeware programs from the t’internet (Audiograbber for converting CD’s, Pspvideo9 for videos) and you’ve got an MP3/Video player plus the usual games console and it's priceless for going on holidays.

I only really play Football Manager 2008 (which is f*cking class!), so couldn’t tell you much on the latest games but I’d recommend any of the Burnout, Lego Star Wars and Syphon Filter games as I’ve enjoyed them all.

Be warned as well though, the in-built internet browser is not the most responsive and as lemonjon has said, it can't handle really graphics-heavy websites. For some reason though, I couldn't get the free Wi-fi on National Express to work the other month .

Thanks for all the info, I think I'll invest in a PSP tomorrow or Friday ahead of Saturday's trip.

I'll get Fifa 08 and Football Manager and maybe hire a couple of games for each journey.

Thanks agian guys.

Never tried connecting to the net on mine but would highly recommend it as a fun diversion. FM is class, and I prefer it to the PC version as it's simpler. Worms Open Warfare 2, Wipeout Pulse and World Tour Soccer 2 are all awesome - WTS 2 is 'challenge based' and is my favourite football game for years, it's not technically as good as FIFA or Pro Evo but is more fun to play (IMO, at least)
