Great animated film, sometimes you forget its a cartoon.

still undecided which film to buy for this year as i have age range from 8yo to 15yo daughters. Was gonna get Pirates of Caribbean but little 'un might be too scared.

I got Pirates for my lad who is 7, took him the cinema and he loved it, also got Cars for him and of course a Bratz film for my little girl.

A Christmas Carol - most versions, but particularly the one with Alistair Simm. It sums up christmas for me.

The version with Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Piccard) is on on Christmas eve on 4 I think, it's good too.

The book is brilliant. It's interesting that it was written at a time when Christmas was in decline and appeared to have given it a lift. Perhaps we need something similar now!

Happy Holiday

Yep it has to be Scrooged.Bill Murray and the Ghost of Christmas Present are hilarious, her high pitched cutified voice is so out of character when she wallops him left right and centre.
And here are some of the favourite bits

Ghost of Christmas Present: Close your eyes...! And think of snowflakes and moonbeams and whiskers on kittens...
[She notices Frank peeking and goes to jab his eys with two fingers]
Ghost of Christmas Present: Nooooo peeking!
[Frank blocks the jab and closes his eyes]
Ghost of Christmas Present: Of rainbows, forget-me-nots... of misty meadows and sun-dappled pools. Oh, look! There's Mr Hedgehog. I wonder where he's going? Perhaps to HARLEM!
[She punches Frank]
Frank Cross: My jaw!
Ghost of Christmas Present: Sometimes the truth is painful, Frank.
[She slaps his face]
Ghost of Christmas Present: But it's made your cheeks rosy and your eyes bright!

This one here ,right at the start ,just sets the tone for the rest of the film.

Frank notices a picture of Santa and Mrs. Claus on the wall]
Frank Cross: Grace, what in the hell is this?
Grace: Oh, it's a painting, one of my kids did. See, there's Santa Claus and there's Mrs. Claus.
Frank Cross: Honey, how many fingers does Mrs. Santa Claus have here?
Grace: Eleven.
Frank Cross: Eleven. Right.
[rips it down]
Frank Cross: It's crap. Lose it. I don't want it on the wall.
[tosses it in the wastebasket]

The Ghost of Christmas Present: Oh, what is this Frank? Oh, oh, look Frank. It's a toaster.
[hits him in the forehead with the toaster]

Only £3.99 at HMV go on buy it you know you want to.

Bill Murray is a legend absolute perfect for that role,

James Cross: You know what they say about people who treat other people bad on the way up?
Frank Cross: Yeah, you get to treat 'em bad on the way back down too. It's great, you get two chances to rough 'em up.

A Christmas Story for me The period Christmas of Shepherd’s story is timeless, and as Shepherd himself narrates the doomed quest of Ralphie and we meet his friends, neighbors, teachers and family (and what a great, weird family!) we all find something that we recognize from our own Christmases past.
