| I know that this is true but I hate how this fact alone has made it twice as hard for me to pass my driving test and when i do, i will have to pay well over the odds for insurance. Im not an idiot who is going to do 80 in a 30 zone, so why treat me like one... |

| One vote for young drivers!! Can I guess the average age of the voters? Could be 20-30 imo. Old people are the worst drivers? What is considered old? How do you think they got old, by speeding around like nutters?.. ![]() |

my gran was driving for a year without any of her relatives realising that she was so weak she had to use 2 hands to change gear, old people are so headstrong and have so much pride that they generally cant admit when they are past it and should stop doing things, such as driving. This makes them a danger | |

| My partner's great aunt started driving before they had driving tests, and never had to take one. Luckily, she lived in a very remote part of Northumbria, where everybody recognized her car, and whenever they saw her they pulled over to the side of the road until she'd gone past. She didn't feel comfortable doing right turns, and worked out convoluted routes with lots of loops for all her regular journeys so that she only had to turn left. At least, that's the family's anecdote. Not 100% sure it's entirely accurate! |

| As for your earlier comments 'Don't get me started on caravans.' As I live in Norfolk I think the tight bar stewards should get into bed and breakfasts and not bring the northern half of the county to a fkn standstill every bank holiday weekend. And that includes everybody, not just the old'uns. And as I'm not in my 20s, 'old', in my book, is 80+ ![]() |

| Woman and old men for me, I just commented to my g/f yesterday about this - when going round a 3 lane roundabout you have to slow down if one of them is to your outside, as the simple " 1 lane each " understanding that most drivers have is thrown out of the window - they will inadvertantly cut right across into your lane without signal !!!! this bugs the fcukin life out of me, basically if you dont slow down ( in which you aint obliged to ) there will be a collision.Taxi-drivers ! because really they own the roads and the rest of us are just getting in the way of them making a living !! On the insurance - I was with Halifax for years as they always had a good renewal quote, I tried the " confused.com " website and now insured with some london outfit ( insureandgo or something like that ) and saved a few hundred quid with a 2 litre sport jeep it saved me a few quid to start shopping around. |

| young lads on mopeds, as eveyone knows its been raining heavily over the last few days, well myself and my sister were coming through the village on thursday (which is a 30mph zone) it was throwing it down, and i saw a friend of my young sons walking down the road with just a t-shirt on, so i asked my sister to pull up and offer the poor lad a lift home, anyway she indicates to pull up i open the window to ask next minute this bloody bike ends up nearly underneath the back of the car, there this kid sliding all over road, we jumps out and makes sure hes ok, which he is a little shook up but no injuries, so myself and my sister kindly offer him advise on speeding through a village on a (30mph speed limit) and also the fact that its p***ing it down and to be more carefull, now wait for it the lad then gets on his bike,we get back into the car and sets off to my house, low and behold the lad is behind us again with his front wheel nearly kissing the bumper of the car, we gets to my street and my sister indicates to go up it, now this kid decides he wanst to get past us by overtaking (fair enough) but the lad decide he wants to overtake us on the inside (f*ck me) my sister then goes off on one pulls up and gets out, asks the lad what hes doing and his reply is i want to get past you!! she asks him if he saw here indicater on and he replies yeah!! so she asks him why he wants to get past us on the inside when shes turning left to go up this street which probably by him trying to do would have caused an accident, the lad just shrugged his shoulders and took off, now my point is the 1st time he came off the bike yeah accidents happen, but to get back on his bike and pull the stunt he did again is either pure stupidity or he just doesnt know the highway code, now my sister was realy shook up by this lad (having nearly killed him twice in about 5 mins) and i havt to say she did blow her top with him the second time (no violence or anything but a few angry words were said) im not taring all young lads on bike with the same brush but alot of them shouldnt be on the road imo

| A sad, but true story of Mrs CM, who has never had a dent since I taught her to drive almost 20 years ago. Me and Mrs CM used to visit Cumbria on a regular basis back in the 90s, but a change of career left us with not enough spare weekends, so visits were cut down a lot as it's 270 miles from London. We used to enjoy the walks mainly, but I enjoy driving so we toured all over the place, and it would be hard to find a bit of Cumbria we haven't seen. Those who live there or have been there know that if you leave Kendal and want to head to Ambleside and beyond, the road is fairly twisty past Windermere. I have driven along this short route countless times and you'd think that any front seat passenger would note the route, so if he/she ever drove it, he/she would not have to slow down to read road signs at roundabouts or be wary of bends. So, there we were, my knee was playing up, and we decided to go in Mrs CMs car. No speeding on the M11, M25, M1 or M6, a steady 70 all the way, a gentle drive along the A590 and we arrive at Windermere. A few close shaves here and there with my pet hate, idiots in the wrong lane just before their turn off on motorways, but apart from that, a safe journey. The next day we headed to Grasmere to meet friends. Mrs CM is happy enough, chatting as usual about the weather, scenery etc. I'm more interested that the daughters haven't wrecked the house back in London, but that's my normal holiday mood until I phone home. As you get about a mile and a half from Ambleside there is a 90 degree right hand bend, it's no problem at 30.m.p.h. Unless you happen to do what Mrs CM did, suddenly she changed down a gear and swapped lanes. Luckily, I am twice the size of Mrs CM, I grabbed the steering wheel and forced the car back to the left lane, asking what the fcuk she was playing at, as a Mountain Goat bus came around the bend and missed us by about 3 seconds. She said there was a sign ' Drive On The Right' so I asked if she was hallucinating, she got the hump and pulled into a lay-by. A few minutes and a very dicey three-point turn later, we were heading back towards Windermere. We carried on past the bend to a roundabout, encircled it, and headed back towards Ambleside. Sure enough, on a tree on the left hand side of the road, almost on the bend, was a wooden ' Drive On The Right' sign, with a convex mirror underneath it. I explained to her that it was not a proper road sign, and that it meant that there was a house on the corner plot, and his 'drive' came down right on the bend. The mirror was to let you see up the drive to see if anbody was trying to pull out on to the road. Mrs CMs instantaneous comment was ' That's a stupid place to put it.' The remainder of the journey to Grasmere was conducted in total silence. |

| The poll has finished now and unsurprisingly the worst drivers, as voted by PL are unanimously . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . WOMEN AND OLD PEOPLE ![]() If you see anyone looking like the above heading towards you on the wrong side of the road, you were warned. There is also a story to go with the above from BBC site, she passed her test at 74 on the 7th occasion. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/england/...ds/5383174.stm Surely failing 6 times tells you you are not meant to be on the road. ![]()
