This is for Sky+ customers only if your sky recordings don't work example Amstrad. Email this letter to james.murdoch@bskyb.com then you get an email from sky. Don't phone them up just a waist of time unless you going to cancel.

Dear Sir,
as a long standing customer of Sky, I am bitterly disappointed with my current viewing experience due to the fault that has developed within the Amstrad box supplied by Sky, which you claim will enhance my viewing choices available, and at times convenient to me. The fault makes it impossible to watch recordings, or live broadcasts when recording other stations, due to the picture & sound constantly stuttering
There is mounting evidence on consumer forums such as www.digitalspy.co.uk that a whole batch of Amstrad's are suffering from this this common problem. More importantly however it was Sky that supplied these units to me to enable your Sky+ service for which you charge me monthly by subscription, but clearly, the units you supplied are unfit for purpose to fully enable that service to me.
There is mounting evidence that the problem started directly as a result of Sky changing the operating software during the summer 2006. Ie. Sky caused the problem to occur in the equipment you supplied to me, for a service you charge me by monthly subscription.
I fully expect that the unit will be replaced for free by a brand new PACE Sky+ PVR, as Sky have done for other customers that are in exactly the same situation. There is also evidence that replacement refurbished units start to suffer from the same problem in due course and I do not want to risk that. I pay a lot of money for the Sky services you provide so I expect to be given the best possible customer service and have my expectations met.
I will have to seriously consider cancelling the whole Sky service if my expectations are not met, because the monthly subscription I pay for this Amstrad unit does not represent value for money.

A mate of mine is with Virgin.... he pays the minimal tv package, bought a Eurovox box off ebay and gets all the channels including porn, all sports, movies and pay per view events.

All I have to do....errm...... I mean, all he has to do is update the software every year or so which is downloadable for free and transferred to the box by the cable provided....

A friend of mine (not me of course) was thinking of doing this himself. But he was a bit concerned that by buying it off ebay their would be a record of the transaction and therefore it could be traced?

Or would you say that as their selling them on ebay, they couldn't do my friend just for buying one?

I never thought of that, but there has been no problem so far, and they cannot prove that you have bought it for personal use.

Just keep the old box just in case you get an unexpected visit from your tv provider..... leave them on your doorstep while you change the box, or tell them that it is not convienient for them to come in and that they must have an appointment.

Sky is always updating the functionalities of it's equipment and is always aiming to provide the best possible service to our customers. Unfortunately, however, as with any piece of electrical appliance, new features are introduced and existing models may not always be compatible with these new features.

Unfortunately in your situation, the model of Sky+ box you have(PVR1) does not have the memory space to deal with the functions of Sky Anytime.

Whilst I understand your disappointment regarding this matter, I can only reiterate that we would not upgrade your existing Sky+ box free of charge.

Promotional offers are ongoing and should an existing customer offer become available again in the future, it will be advertised in our Sky Magazine or by an mail shot delivered to your home. We do also from time to time have outbound projects running directly from our call centre staff who would contact you at your home to explain the details of offers available at that time.

As a new customer when you first subscribed to Sky, you benefited from the reduced rate on your current set top box.

It is clear that you are disappointed that the offer is directed at new subscribers and I would like to take this opportunity to explain the reason behind this. The equipment is offered at a discounted cost in order to introduce and attract new customers to our services. By attracting more customers this allows us to continue enhancing and improving the overall services that we already offer to our existing subscribers.

I am sure you will agree that with ever-growing subscribers to the digital service and the continued enhancement of our products and viewing services, that Sky will continue their goal in offering world beating customer service.

May I further advise that as you have already benefited from a subsidized installation and as the terms and conditions of your Sky agreement advise that any subsidized installation is limited to one per household.

my friend who also has a virgin-eurovox box has had no problem with getting caught with it. his only problem is he doesnt know how to up date it and has to take it back to get it up dated is there somewhere he could look on the net that would show him how to do it himself
