Default Skills database - What are yours?

One of the best things about PL is the willingness shown by it's members to help, advise and guide each other. I think it would be useful if we listed what we believe to be our core skills. By core skills I mean areas where we have an in-depth/expert knowledge which we are prepared to share with our fellow PL'ers. This thread would then provide a useful starting point for any of us in need of help. If the Mods agree with me, then perhaps this thread could be stickied in General Chat.

My skills
1. I spent all my working life in IT. There's not a lot I don't know about analysing, designing, building and testing computer systems. However, I'm not a techie and therefore can't help with techie queries relating to the languages used to build computer systems. I was also an IT Project Manager for nearly 20 years.

2. I've always been interested in personal finance and have learnt a lot in the last 30+ years. I've got an in-depth knowledge of savings, borrowing, pensions, investments, property, etc.

I have worked in a Solicitor's and 2 Property Companies, so I know a bit of legal and property stuff in general.

Now?

This is my job, owner of a few big websites which have all taken hard work and a lot of hours to put them where they are, with the help of other people also.

There's not much I don't about the betting industry and I have a lot of contacts within it because of all the websites success.

I'm not the greatest technically, ie I don't design websites or code websites, but I can do a bit here and there. My ability comes in how to run the websites, but that doesn't come overnight either.

Organisation would be my best attribute, I know how to get things done and I get them done. If I don't how to do something, I find out.

If anyone needs advice on this area, I will happily point you in the right direction.

You should look to sort out your pension now, not in 3 years, particularly because of the industry you work in - the pension is one of the few benefits of working for the NHS. It's never too early to start and even a small amount put away now will make a big difference in the future.

I work as the IT Manager for a media company so have a good general knowledge of IT matters. Also interested in financial matters and have followed property markets/trends/developments/etc. for the past few years. I have started my own business previously so have an idea of what not to do!

dp - just to clarify, I'm paying into the pension fund now, and have done since i qualified 5 years ago. Once my debts are paid off, I plan to increase my pension contributions within the nhs pensions fund to the max and if i can afford it, I'll look into private pensions on top. At the moment, the nhs are re-evaluating their pension scheme and its all a bit up in the air, so by the time my debts are sorted, i should have a better idea on how much damage they have done to the 'improvements'

what i need to look into is how much I'd have to pay to secure a similar equivalent wage to what i'm on now, how early i can achieve this return and how much i can be on before taxation makes it not worth any further increases. I know that there are many years for the arse to fall out of things, but knowing when i can retire will be a massive boost for me

Suppose me most useful skill is to provide measured building surveys (inc cross sections, elevations and floorplans).Using total stations, disto's etc.

I was a senior measured building surveyor - now only doing it on a voluntary basis but still very much 'keeping my eye in'.
