Ok, going to try to come back to this as some people are showing an interest. This is going round in circles and it seems difficult to work out. Going to try and add a new poll to this thread, and Pm those that were interested before.

I think there are 2 reasonable options in regard to cost, these will be added to the poll and people can vote for whichever one they would like cost wise. Obviously there are lots of others so if anyone wants to suggest something please do, its a group thing.

Option 1 - ownaracehorse

www.ownaracehorse.com

0.25% share is about £150 and is a one off cost. Site allows you to set up your own syndicates. Some decent horses, nothing special but good for some fun.

Option 2 - Diamond Racing

http://www.diamondracing.co.uk/

This costs slightly more, but for paying more you get more. The horses tend to be slightly more classy and there is a range of horses, from good to not so good, and younger to older. When you buy you also get acxcess to an inside line, and Diamond Racing are a well known gambling syndicate.

The cost is £99.95 p/m for a 1% share, so still not too bad

Is option 2 £99.95 per month? If so, i'm sorry, but that cost would be prohibitive to me.

Each 1% share is 99 a month guy

so if PL bought 10%, its 999 a month, say between 50 members, would be 20 a month each

appears to be that these guys are valuing thier horses @ 9999 a month, thats £120k over a year to buy & train a horse. i assume these are fairly decent?

Havent looked at the sites yet, but will do so later.

Thanks for the explanation Bowles

I've just come accross this site; http://www.racingbetter.co.uk/syndicates/index.html seems plenty to choose from?

Currently having a look through the others. The Middleham one looks expensive as there ia a one off payment in adition to the monthly fee but if we get plenty of members then it would be a possibility.

Will have a look through that website shortly GF. Thanks for that.

Can anyone tell me if the poll is working, if not, what does it say.

All depends, the problem with Diamond is most of the horses are 2 year olds so its a bit unkonwn. However, the inside betting line is included in the price so I think that pushes it up a bit.

Think the horses probably cost about £100k + so that makes it look quite reasonable.

The diamond racing is a 3 year contract. Getting x number of members in our syndicate all of whom pay up for 3 years without any problems is highly unlikely.

I'd therefore suggest that one of the fixed fee options is the best way to go so that people put the money in up front, then there is no danger of anyone dropping out.

I've therefore voted for ownaracehorse but I'd be happy to go for racingbetter option, it's just not in the poll to be voted for.

(The fact that we can use Tesco's vouchers to get a 75% reduction in the cost is certainly a factor that would push me towards ownaracehorse over racingbetter)

Probably count me out as i need to buy a car so having a stake in a horse for me probably isn't prudent .

OK, so the current list of interested parties are:

stewartd14
daftpegasus
bobthebuilder
alexmac
evilchris
Guy Fawkes
Pobby
mowgli77
Rossd1
Bowles10 (maybe others)
chrislloyd
macnkevin
youngveteran

Ok, so at the moment we have 13 interested and we are now getting to the stage where if we are to go forward with this we need to get the exact numbers. I will PM those listed and ask them to confirm their interest. Then I will set up a new thread where we can discuss pricing etc.

As we stand, with 13 members, the costs would be:

ownaracehorse:

Average price: £400 for a 1% share (outright cost and you need 2.5% for a synicate.

This means the cost will probably be: £1000/13 = £76.92 per member - one off payment for 1 season.

Diamond Racing

Fixed price: £99 p/m for a 1% share and access to inside info -> £1188 per year /13 members = £91.38 per member - one off payment for 1 year.

These are only 2 examples, and I know there are many others. This is just a price range and we will discuss options once we get people interested and names down.

What I need now, is for people to let me know whether they would be interested in this based on the prices above. These are 1 off prices and you will not be asked to pay anything more until the next year.

Diamond have a 30 day opt out clause and ownaracehorse is only for a certain period of time anyway.

As I said, there are pros and cons to every service, and we will discuss that once we get a list of interested people.

I will set up the poll again but please post your thoughts in the thread and this is still open to everyone.
