I have voted maybe, depends on cost and numbers as I can't justify loads per month when the baby needs nappies etc.

My mate and his pal bought a greyhound, ran it at Hull and it was meant to lose so they didn't back it - it fcuking bolted in and they were pig sick. They often give the fcuker lemonade before a race so it can't run to standard.

dont fancy a greyhound, been there done that ! It is cheap & a bit of fun but the excitement just isnt there for a race that lasts 26 secs!

There are potential pitfalls to this:

- do we have to raise the funds to buy the horse in which case £9k wont be easy!

- the club will need to be registered as a syndicate if someone is collecting/handling the money. There will need to be a treasurer / admin etc

I dont think this is the topic being discussed to be honest. Funding & naming the horse are surely 2 different aspects & as said it would be a unamed horse we would need to buy in order to name it either PL or after Brian.

We want to know how many want to be involved first.

Its a generous offer from an old part of PL (i assume you are one of the same) & an offer that might well get considered if the forum wanted to do it.

I think the idea of this "venture" was for a bit of a laugh and excitement, to get Pl'ers together at racedays and have a bit of fun following a horse, whether it be a donkey or anothr Rock of Gibraltar.

By inviting other forums to get involved just defeats the original purpose of this whole thread and I cant see it getting much support to be honest.

If it is a genuine gesture, then its a great gesture and thanks for the offer but I cant help thinking you are sh!t-stirring too

As I acknowledged, your original point about the horse not having to be named after PL was a fair one, but to take it to the extent that you are willing to stump up a lot of money to name the horse is very baffling.

You havent been on PL for a couple of years now, from what I recall, you werent particularly close to Brian and I dont think you ever met him. So why do you care so much?? Im confused.

I really hope this isnt a cheap attempt to get one over on a certain someone because to use Brian's death as an avenue to scoring some bragging points is quite simply wrong.

No it isn't a cheap stunt because I'm a hell of a lot deeper than that.

For a start off I haven't posted on other forums more than once for about 9 months either so I have no loyalty to one forum or another.

I'm annoyed that I must justify myself to you or anyone else but here goes.

I 'typed' to Osesame / Brian for many years - many times after the forum splits too (sorry if this surprises you). I don't like Paul Ross either - that is also true and a fact Brian knew.

But - My offer is genuine because -

a) I have money to invest in fun.
b) I like betting.
c) A horse shouldn't be named after a forum unless the forum is putting up the cash.
d) Brian / Osesame was an argumentative bas***d who was a forum legend.
