Like Minds

A decent enough film set in the aftermath of a presumed murder, which flashes back to the time before it all happened throughout. Ruined imo though by the unnecessary twist directors always feel the need to go for now....which you can almost spot a mile off

2.5/5

Just watched a couple of documentaries.

The first a film called 'In The Hands Of The Gods' about 5 freestyle footballers who set off without a penny on a quest to meet Maradona. Some great football skills on show throughout as they blag their way across the America's making money on their skills as they go.

The second a film called 'Ghosts Of Cite Soleil' looking at the ruling gangs of Haiti amongst constant political unreast.

Obviously I was more entertained by the first but the second was gritty and showed the lives of a geographical area which I'd guess not many of us are totally aware of. Wyclef does the music and for strange reason has a couple cameos speaking on the phone to one of the Haitian gang leaders

Le Serpent

French thriller all about blackmail and revenge. Vincent is going through a messy divorce with hearings trying to stop his family relocating in another country when things just begin to go from bad to worse.

Somebody out there appears hell bent on destroying him!

Fairly gripping all the way through and a solid 3.5/5

I realiise I'm behind the rest of the world.. but I stayed up the other night to watch 'Green Street' on ITV.

Verdict - a load of bollocks

Nobody walks with a swagger like these idiots, even West Ham fans.
The pub they drink in doesn't exist anywhere in the east end as far as I know. The only pub that I know in the east end with Abbey in it's name, is the Abbey Arms, a predominantly 'Irish' pub in Plaistow. Where were 'The Boleyn' or 'The Hammers' pubs?

Street names in London have the postal district in red on the end of name plates, I didn't see any, so fcuk knows where it was filmed.

' Dont go home via West Ham station ' was what Bilbo Baggins was told. West Ham station is two stops from Upton Park station, where you alight for the football ground. You have to go past Plaistow first.

Had a break for a Google....as you do....

Nice to see another 'Cass' in the film One of the 'Manchester' coppers was Cass Pennant, a major I.C.F. yob in his younger days.

The reason there are no postal districts on the street names near the pub is that ithe pubs real name is The Griffin, it's outside Brentfords ground, in WEST London.

And (apparently) you can't get a train to Manchester from Kings X, and even though they met outside Kings X, when they were shown getting on a train, it wasn't at Kings Cross.

They got off the train at Macclesfiekd Station to dodge the Mancs, which was easy enough, as the actual station was Westbury....in Wiltshire

Nothing like a bit of authenticity, is there?

Green Street is shit

The end really annoys me when the woman takes her baby to a ruck

Paris J'etaime

Not the usual fare but it's original enough in concept. 18 seriously short stories viewing different sorts of love with Paris as the backdrop. That makes it sound soppy and like a chick flick but it's not. Actors and directors from all over the world have contributed with The Coen Brothers penning there own story for one.

Steve Buscemi, Bob Hoskins, Nick Nolte, Elijah Wood, Natalie Portman, Gerard Depardeu, Maggie Gillenhall.....so so many recognised names as well as many character actors you recognise but can't put a name to. Some of the stories I found quite amusing, some very sad.....some even quite quite pointless. But as a whole it works...even if I did want to find out what happened next on a few.

4/5

Few films I've seen recently that are good are TAKEN with Liam Neeson and FELON with Val Kilmer
Both class but TAKEN is brilliant

Good advice.

There hasn't been a classic horror film since Blair Witch. Yet to see REC, I have high hopes for that - but I had high hopes for The Strangers.

Will check it out.

Needed something in the background while studying tomorrow's card and Vacancy was on Sky anytime - so I thought I'd give it a try without expecting much.

Obvious similarities with The Strangers I thought - and although the ending was weak (final scene especially) it built tension a lot better than The Strangers did. One of those were I was getting stressed watching, in a good way.

Not a bad film - did it's job. No more than.

Just noticed the posts above for Green St. I could talk for hours about how poor it is and how badly they got everything wrong. Pure shit, in my all time worst top 10 I'd say. Plot, acting, script, casting were an embarrassment, apart from that it was average.
