| Its a Wonderful Life - a tale of good and evil and realising what you have is better than you thought even though you don't think so. To me the wicked world has become a metaphor for the Premiership where the smaller teams are dominated by the big. It used to be one of my top 10, but I find it a bit sugary nowadays. I still admire James Stewart and see a bit of myself in him. Angels with Dirty Faces - A film again with a moral story, with the bad guy frying in the chair, even when he is so popular with many young men. Unfortunately in real life the bad guys sometimes get away with it. Texas Chainsaw original - I am afraid I found it comical. I found No country for Old men much more disturbing and depressing. |

| Not anymore thanks to your pointing me in the right direction ![]() On the whole I enjoyed it and as you say the lead gave a sparkling performance full of eccentricities, passion, verve, insecurity, spirit, fire. The one thing for me though (which works both for an against in this) is that after watching a biopic or anything based around a true story I want and need to find out more when the credits roll. Found it slightly damning that I learned more of Edith Piaf's life from reading Wikipedia than I did sitting through the entire film. It's a 3.5/5 for me I think. |

| Has everybody seen Atonement yet? I've had it sitting on the shelf to watch for ages but still not got round to it. Putting it in the 'club' may finally get me off my arse! |

| I've seen this, very good film imho. I would be up for the club but are you sure its not the a group of people watchign films? After all, the last time, discussion was just about zilch. I thought there's the themes, directors aims, soundtrack discussed etc etc?

| Well I watched it and now just off to cut my wrists open ![]() No, in all seriousness it was very sad and quite moving. A slow burner but definitely worth watching. |

| Watched this last night, and it was excellent imo I didn't think it was that slow to be honest Very impressed with the directing, interesting, along with the music (won an oscar I think the music guy). Liked the way the typewriter would be going then it turned into the score if you get me! Well acted, good story, and I really enjoyed it. The C*** bit near the start cracked me up! 8.5/10

| Seeing as there appears no way in resurrecting this how about we just alter things up slightly. Would anybody be interested in either changing this thread or starting a new for film reviews. That way we can all watch things in our own time whenever we please, and if there is a strong enough liking or dislikng that we feel the need to advise fellow pl'ers, the platform is here. For my part it may stop me opening a million and one threads to say....I just saw such and such last night. It was bwilliant!! |

| Too late to give much of an in depth review but just finished watching Disturbia which has been on my list for a short while. Anybody who has seen Rear Window (and that should apply to all or most film buffs) will instantly recognise a similar storyline. It's like Rear Window for the 2000's if you like although obviously not in the same class. Despite a couple things just not making too much sense, overall it was fun, entertaining, gripping, tense, exciting. A well worked film I thought. Now which one of your current neighbours arouses certain suspicions ![]() The female co-star is pretty fine also ![]() |
