i think the calender month option sounds good, that way if you decide to opt out one month your not waiting too long for the next book

I think 1 month is a good time scale (fast readers wont have to wait too long to discuss if they finish early, slow readers can discuss as much as they've read or chapter by chapter), but I do think we need some sort of rigidity as otherwise i can imagine things will become a bit dosjointed.

Perhaps we shoudl start with a shortish book first time round. This will a) give us all a gentle introduction and b) finish earlyish so we can run it calendar month -> calendar month. People reckon thats a good idea? Just think it's better to know where we all stand . . .

I'm looking forward to it, I generally read non fiction or historical fiction so looking forward to reading somethign a bit different.
After all, rules are there to control the fun Monica Just joking, I agree to an extent

The Secret of Crickley Hall is a good James Herbert book.

Question Re: If we can have a film club then surely a book club is also viable

Right, I say we get cracking then. That way we are just in time for the weekend when people are more likely to get a bit of spare time.

Nobody else has expressed an interest in tagging along in the last day or two so...

Anybody mind if I start? Only 160 pages into my Grisham thriller and that should take me another week at the minimum

Of course one problem with both this and the film club is.....my goldfish brain. If it's something I saw a while back i'm going to need refreshing on a few points before I'll remember what the hell happened.

Just now I was thinking to myself what a great book Fatherland is but then I also realise that apart from the broad premise of the story I can hardly remember a thing that happened

In my defence I must have read it about 10 years ago now so...

Wow that sounds a Brilliant book. I've often wondered how the Nazi's would have shaped the World had they won and would it have have meant a better World than the one we live in today.

Not sure about that....i'm fairly glad we're not living under the Reich but each to their own I suppose haha!

Anyway that settles it then, Fatherland it is.

Shall we say approx 1 month starting this weekend!? If everybody is finished sooner then great but let's give people as much time as possible

Cheers

We'll say approx 4 weeks but if it looks like we're going to run over by a week it's no big deal
