Question New bands... Up and coming bands... etc etc

Anyone heard any good news music later...?

I have been listening to 'Glasvegas' alot recently. Aswell as having a class name, they have some pretty decent tunes too.

Some of their song names would make fellow Weegies laugh too. 'Go Square Go' and 'Whitey' make me laugh, proper Glasgow phrases them.

I won't bang on about British Sea Power again (their album really is superb btw )

I have been listening lots to these recently;
The Envy Corps - I LOVE his voice (and a great video too - inspired by Takeshis Castle!!)

Also, the new elbow song (welcome back lads) - Grounds for Divorce

I best stop there.

Getting a few indie dj gigs at the mo, so like to keep my finger on the pulse. Love it.

This one is going down well at the mo (can't imbed).

I saw "The Subways" live on Thursday night and they were absolutely brilliant. Try and get hold of their 1st album "Young for Eternity" if you can - a new one is out in May and is produced by Butch Vig of Nirvana fame.

Saw Elbow recently at Koko in Camden. They were very good indeed. Seems like an age since they last did anything.

What format do you use to DJ with Guy Fawkes??? Vinyl/CD/MP3, combination of all...?

Wholly Cd's at the mo. With (obvioulsy) a CD mixing desk. I download a lot of stuff from itunes and just whack them all on a cd with tracklisting, works for me.

Thinking of buying a laptop - apparently it's the way forward but not so sure, seems to easy.

P.s. i use the term DJ, loosely! More like putting one song on, one after another!

Indie Djing?!
I DJ'd out a fair bit before I came here. In Worcester, Bristol and a few other places. Got my decks and vinyl back home still. Need to get them shipped out here
I DJ'd Grime/Garage though

you actually mix indie, or just play it?

Up and coming bands....

Short story

My uncle Jack was, shall we say, an 'entrepeneur' back in the 60s and 70s. He used to chauffeur stars about like Shirley Bassey, Engelbert Humperdinck etc etc He formed a group called the Trend, went to Hamburg as most groups did. They then disbanded due to musical differences, and a broken nose.

He wanted another group, so he went to the midlands to see a group who he had heard about. Came home and told my dad ' What a fcuking racket, bunch of skinheads, not worth two fcuking bob.'

He had obviously turned them down.

Shame really, they grew their hair, changed their style, and became Slade.

I saw them recently for about the 5th time and they were great as always. I can honestly say they sound so much better live than on cd. For me their tunes sound much better when they are cranked up abit and more raw. The front man's a legend too, he's dived into the crowd every time I've seen them. Suprised at how long it's taken them to release a new album, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. Having said that of their new stuff that I heard last month, only 2 songs really stood out to me.

Funny that Vig is so famous for producing Nevermind when he did such a horrible job on it.
It's overproduced and way too clean sounding. The band didn't like it at all although it was a massive commercial success so he obviously did something right.

new bands Thriller, The Chariot, The Sword. The former 2 are technical hardcore, the latter are stoner rock and worth checking out if you like Black Sabbath.
