Hard FI- Stars of CCTV

Bought it without having heard a word of a song, because they came reccommended, very pleased with it. Some really cool songs, few dodgy tracks but I'll let them go cos of songs like Hard To Beat and Cash Machine are so good. Everythign thats good about british music is on this album

Hmmm - i'm a bit old fashioned, mostly like ballads etc.

One song i haven't heard for a while that i would like to is the flying pickets A-ccapella version of only you.

Found a site by accident with a tonnes of music vids on it though (was a bet related query) - twisted sisters "we're not going to take it" is still a good laugh. It even has A-ha's "Take on me" which i think is the very first music vid i ever saw.

since then i think the standards have gone downhill.

Jack Johnson- In Between dreams

didnt want to buy this at first since theres tons of hype around himm, but fair play to the boy, he's made a well cool album. just laid back tunes, sahme I got it now and not earlier in the summer cos it would be perfect for chilling with a beer to. just soulfull class really

Currently listening to Nine Black Alps and Arcade Fire. Nine black alps is class, fairly basic nirvana-esque rock but they do it really well with some really catchy songs. Unsatisfied and Shot Down my favourites, but tracks 1,2,3,4,7 and 8 all class.

Arcade Fire very different - if you like the more downbeat morbid stuff you will like this. Been hailed in some press as a masterpiece and I dont think its that but theres some really good stuff on there and well worth a purchase. Current single Rebellion (lies) is the stand out track.

have just bought new Franz Ferdinand one, its pretty cool on first listen, lots of cool riffs and catchy songs, will review it properly when I've had a better listen

Arctic Monkeys are one of the best bands about at the minute, just got some sort of a big deal as well, these will be big in the future, just about to release there single, Bet that you look good on the dancefloor, cracking song.

Everyone's now hyping Arctic Monkeys but damn it, this time they could actually be an act that's the real deal (even they don't want to chance it and Alex gives a hesistantly sardonic "Don't believe the hype" before they start their performance on their music video).

I'm tipping them for a Mercury Music Prize nomination (as is probably any muso with half a brain) but not the win.

Album's released proper in February 2006.

Hopefully the fans who've built them up on the internet go and buy it as well as what could be an ever increasing fanbase. Having heard seventeen tracks or so, they're very good indeed.
