They were supposed to be "special forces" but as we could all see the Russia equivlent of "special forces" is more close to a British version of the "TA" !!!

I can see why people are angry at the russia "SAS !" because of the name they carried today and judge them on our high standards expected of the British SAS.

Them Lads today have not had the same level of training nor have the same investment in terms of equipment which the British SAS have IMO,not even 10% of what the British SAS have.

So really you have to blame the goverment who run them and the standards what they are at.

It was a pure disgrace in comparrison to how it would of been handled in this country.Having crowds of people right next to the school, letting newsgroups right inside the building during the gunbattle,no ambulances etc and in hindsight and using our own BRITISH SAS standards letting it drag for the day or so it did anyway.

However the lads who were sent into that situation i think probaly done the best they could and to the ability they have been trained too.

fair comment tosh , I think it was so frustrating KNOWING it would end in a slaughter and knowing that if they let better trained troops take over then things might have been ok.

Their equivalent of the SAS is called the Alpha group...was watching itv had andy mcnab on and he said they were NOT present as the uniforms were of normal area troops.

I thought Russia was a top military nation but is really quite useless our forces would take them easily... in the ned its thier nukes that scare people.

Russia used to be a top military nation, but now its capitalist it can't afford to pay for the upkeep of its army anymore resulting in poor morale, poor fitness, poor battle readiness and general corruption amongst the officers. Its genuinely scary to think that they still have the worlds largest nuclear arsenal with incompetent fingers on very rusty and failing triggers. Although after the events of the last 3 days and the increase in attacks by the chechens lately i wouldn't put using nuclear weapons intentionaly in this war past either side.
