| http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7479758.stm i genuinely cannot think of the words to describe how I'd like to bury the fcuking idiots who come up with this shite! Rather than branch into different topics, I've created a thread to discuss exactly how to end this PC shite - PC - time to move it onto a new level...

| I cannot see a problem with this, all schools have their policies and if they firmly believe in inclusion then this should be extended to all incidents that happen on their premises. It is easy for the parents, get them to do it off school premises. This is not uncommon in UK schools as well, as you will find out when your kids get older.

- looks like i'm gonna be popular with the teachers then - if they play any stunts like this with my kids, they'll fcuking know my feelings.tbh, i'm amazed this story has any support - perhaps i'm misreading the situation? how on earth can it be 'right' to force children to invite other children to their party? Its a joke imo."hey, johnny, you know that kid in school who bullies you and takes your lunch money - apparently its right that we HAVE to invite him to your party. Great news, eh? "i think we're bordering on the 'positive discrimination' field here - you cannot solve a problem by forcing people to do the opposite. You can only educate and hope people make the right decisions.

| There's an easy answer. Just wait at the school gates (i.e, outside the school premises) and hand the invites out there. I assume this is what one of them must already have done because the reason cited for not inviting one of the kids is that he didn't invite this kid to his party. For what it's worth, I agree that it's stupid. You can't force people to get on with each other whether it's kids or adults and shit like this is more likely to bring unwanted attention onto any kids not invited to parties. |

| I wasn't allowed a party as a kid UNLESS I invited everyone. Parents need to take control of this sort of situation. Kids dictating to their parents and the parents agreeing with their silly playground squabbles is what is wrong with the world. |

This could branch into many different arguments - job applications and discrimination between men/women etc.

| It is nothing to with PC ![]() It is a simple inclusion policy that all schools have (in the UK) and I for one think it is a good thing.

| Political corectness/discrimination are coming into the same bracket now. I am all for schools encouraging everyone to bond together and resolve any differences but I think it is ridiculous that this simple thing has caused such a big response. I wouldnt think all schools in the UK would confiscate invitations because they weren't given to all the pupils.

| I think you've misunderstood, WASP. I think Ali was referring to the father's comment: Quote:
![]() Three things strike me about this story. The invitations were handed out "during class-time". Only two children didn't get invitations. The teacher "spotted" that they didn't. The picture this suggests to me is of an 8-year old being deliberately hurtful to two of his classmates by making a show of excluding them. 8-year olds can be very cruel, and no teacher is going to be able to stop them, but should a teacher really allow this during a class? OK, maybe I have completely the wrong picture of what happened, but it's consistent with the report, which is all we have to go on. One of my early memories from when I was about that age, and something I still feel ashamed of, is of a "difficult" classmate who had no friends and was very unpopular. Some of the class, including some friends of mine, went on a systematic campaign of bullying (not physical) against him. I didn't participate directly but I felt bad about it: I knew what was going on and I didn't say anything or try to stop them (I didn't like him either). The headteacher figured out exactly what was going on, and I got severely told off for not standing up for what I knew was right (I don't think I knew the expression "You've got me bang to rights" then, otherwise I might have used it ).

| I remember when I was a kid, about 10 years old. A boy in my class had a birthday party and invited everyone else except me. It sucked. Not sure why I left compelled to share that with you, but there you go. |

It was pretty hurtful at the time, kids are very social creatures, they work in a pack system, anyone that has read / watched "the lord of the flies" will get what I'm on about. most successful ? dunno, a couple of kids I went to school with have done ok, strangely enough these were the kids that I became really friendly with when I was about 13 or 14. A lot of the kids I went to school with are still living on the same estate, drink in the local pub. I don't criticse their choices, but it wasn't for me. This thread actually gives me a chance to tell a little story about the kid whose birthday party I didn't get invited to. He turned out to be a wrong 'un, Borstal at 14, you know the drill. (only kid in my primary school with divorced parents in the late 70s, wonder if it was the cause?), anyhow, after various spells into and out of jail for the normal petty crap of property crime and violence, few years back he ends up working as a drug dealer, looking after some herion for a mr big figure. He was sitting on about 70 grand worth of brown at his house, not sure if he dabbled or the pressure of it became too much for him, but he became paranoid that the police were onto him, and they had black helicopters and satalites and all manner of plain clothed cops watching him. So he decamped down to the garden shed with the H and an assult rifle and decides to sit it out. The old dear at the next house got concerned about him, thought he'd gone a bit strange so she call the local community cop in to have a look, just to check he's alright. They turn up one day and catch him asleep with the smack and the gun. Turns out the cops had no idea about it, if he'd sat on hsi sofa and chilled out with a beer he'd never have got caught ![]() ![]() Nicked. Proceed directly to jail, don't pass go. He wisely decided gainst giving evidence against the people he was dealing with, may have saved his life, but didn't impress the judge too much when it came to giving out the sentance, think he got 15 years. ![]() Rambled a bit I know, but it makes me smile everythime I think of the story.

| First, i'm sorry if my english isn't perfect. Since i live in Sweden i can tell you that 95% of the Swedes think this is incredibly ridicoulus. Of course you invite whoever the fcuk you want to your own birthday party! The fact that the school was involved doesn't change that, school time and private birthday party time is NOT the same! Agreed it wasn't so smart to hand out invitations in the class room, the boy's parents should have understand that the teacher would react to the exclusion. But fact remains that they were bullies, who want them at the party? I hate all PC, people get offended over nothing these days, wusses i say! Life's not fair, life's not easy. Alot of kids AND parents need to toughen up! Probably spoiled as they were kids themselves, making mum and dad fixing everything for them. If you never have setbacks as a kid and learn how to deal with that emotionally, you surely can't handle them as an adult. About AJ's story: I remember we had a bully in class, always fighting everyone and making a scene. Big rude slowheaded guy. He turned into drugs when he was like 13 or 14, nowadays he's walking around like a complete zombie in the streets of our childhood area, always with shades on, walking slow, looking like a retard. His brain transformed into mashed potato and he'll be lucky if he's able to switch channel on the TV. ![]() A small part of me pity him, his parents were complete idiots, always telling him and everybody else that he shouldn't care about school, cause he was going to be a professional hockey player...! ![]() He had some talent but never made it into serious hockey play. What kind of parents put that pressure on their son? Morons. Rambling but there you go ![]() Last edited by HooLooVoo; 30-06-2008 at 10:21. |

| this isnt PC gone mad, this has been going on for years and years. Kids are best friends one week and hate each other the next, if you let them invite who they want to their parties they probably wont be inviting their closest friends half of the time. This is the 'PC gone mad' patrol gone mad! |
