Default Isolated tribe spotted in Brazil

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7426794.stm

Quite surreal really isn't it, its like something out of a film.

Heres one of the pictures they took.

I came across this earlier fascinating stuff. I also read recently about a guy who travelled to study one of these indigenous tribes and teach them about Christianity. Whilst there he realised they have no concept whatsoever about God and he became an athiest.

They also had no words for colours or numbers but somehow managed to get around this.

Wasn't there a crew who went to one of these tribes too and after a short time they were all ill, becuase they had not been exposed to the germs the crew brought in and therefore their immune system struggled to fight them

Yeah I read this. Wasn't it the linguist who went over there to study their language though who became an atheist? I think I read it in New Scientist. Maybe I'm wrong but it was along those lines. Apparently they had a unique language because they didn't have recursion whereby you can express one idea within another. I don't think they had specific numbers either it was just one or many. Completely alien to us.

That tribe is amazing, it's weird that in this day and age there are still cultures uncontacted by the modern world. What must they think when they see a plane? That picture makes them look like a little tribe of oompah loompahs.

Yeah that's the same article Paul, I obviously got the bit mixed up about him teaching Christianity. He was a Chistian linguist who became an athiest.

....."would soon be made extinct if their land was not protected". I know of another such tribe in the UK only their bodies are white not red.

Fascinating stuff.

If anyone isinterested in this sort of stuff, read 'This thing of darkness' which touches on Darwins' visit to Patagonia etc.

Like the program 'tribe', make out he's well and truly going where man has never been before. Once, the people wouldn't let him stay with them unless he gave them a diesel generator, another time, 'we want a speed boat engine'

We should do a thread 'photoshop a Pl'er'. My photoshopping skills aren't amazing but my extremely sharp wit compensates .

Sky got wise and started looking out. Unfortunately they missed a photoshopped grim reaper and someone holding a sign saying 'gaz is a cnut'

It's been in provate eye for the last few issues.
