Horse racing/betting game

Now, i know a lot of people here are pretty regular gamers and i know that most like a flutter, so here's the deal....

Me and a friend are in the process of developing a betting type game, originally horse racing only, but this may change.

What im after is some ideas off people as to what would make them play the game. We've got the basic mould of the game done so really what im looking for is some little additions or finishing touches to enhance the games appeal. Just any ideas basically!! So, if theres anything you would like to see in a game then just say!!

And for the mods, this isnt any kind of plug for the game, its still in early stages & when it does finally get finished it wont have a charge!!

What are you making this with?

Something like Championship Manager but for horses would be ideal

Were creating a basic/mock-up type thing in VB. Depending on how things go, we'll either stick with VB or we'll move on.

Were wanting to create the game from a punters point of view rather than an owner/trainer view like other games have. Were also wanting to make it more of a financial challenge by adding stuff like paying for a race card and the travelling costs to meetings so the game is not just about making a load by betting, it involves some thought in managing your money.

On a similar note. After 10 months of having blue screen of deaths when i played COD i might have sorted it (touch wood). I removed one of the RAM sticks and seems ok so far. You could make it so that a horse gets withdrawn just before the off in 16 runner h'caps so the bookie makes more money,
Wouldnt think it would happen in real life tho :rolleyes

Also if you include French racing you could make it that the 1.00 race starts around 4.45 and a stewards enquiry is held immediately after the race if a french horse hasnt won it, then after much garrotting and guillotining of anything resembling an english horse release the result to the bookmakers.
Where as you are told you didnt take the price on your 50/1 shot so you end up with 1.01 on the pari mutuel.

Maybe you could try and emulate JP or Magnier , start off bettin and work your way up to owning/breeding.
You could start a tippin service as the game progresses , maybe incorperate a casino or summat.
Or even bribe a jockey and knobble a horse.

good info Keem. I'm only here to talk COD Offensive. Get the Original and the add on pack and come and join us on the servers above. Its great. New massive maps, loads a tanks and stuff to jump in. Pick yer mate up in a jeep and go for a drive and take the flags. Brilliant. Im away back for more. Just sneeked into a small village, nicked a tank, took out a battalion)?) and then took the flag to win the game. Superb fun.
