I'm one of the few people who liked the Blair Witch project I think!

One that I felt let down by quite recently was This is England. I'd read so many rave reviews of it and whilst I thought it was OK, it wasnt as good as the hype made out.

yeah blair witch was overhyped at the time, so became a disappointment.having re watched it recently i actually enjoyed it more ,but its still mediocre at best

think my biggest ever let down on a film has to be alien 3

i love alien and aliens is probably my fav film everrelentless action all the way through.

i remember hearing loads of rumours when they started production on alien 3 saying it would be the aliens landing on earth/huge war etc etcwould have been brilliant.
what we actually got didnt have the suspense of the first film or the action of the second ,absolute cobblers

Lost in Translation...it most definitely was.
Broken Flowers...this film had no bloody ending.
Life Aquatica...dire.

These are all Bill Murray films.

But I loved Ghostbusters and Scrooged, while Groundhog Day remains one of my all time top 5 films.

But he just has this habit of making atrociously bad films.

Broken Flowers is a good film right up until the last scene...all the way through you are kept guessing...then the end of the film just tells you Fck all...I was particularly pissed off with this one!

Somebody told me Cloverfield was like Blair Witch.
No it isn't!
Cloverfield is solely from the viewpoint from a single camcorder.
But there the similarity ends.
It is highly professionally done, the monster graphics are bloody amazing and it is just simply a smashing monster flick.

I spent most of the film with a look of shock and amazement on my face in WTF stylee

Just the bit where they first go into the subway and everything up top is kicking off like World War 3, then when they are being chased in the subway but it's pitch black.

Can't say anymore for fear of spoiling it but my advice is watch if you haven't already

Vanilla sky confused the hell out of me too. I can't stand films that go so far off on one, the only way they can get back to explaining it all is by making it a dream at the end. Total Copout imo!

Anybody watched Shooter with Clive Owen? That has to be one of the worst films I have ever scene. Rented it out and turned it off after about 40mins!

Was there a Colin Farrel film called Swat? I think that's what it was called, as that was mindnumbingly boring too!

I watched that the other night and thought it was very good, also another brit flick to see is 'Outlaw' with Sean Bean and Danny Dyer.

Disappointing films?

Godfather's still to this day havent seen all of GF1 cus I end up turning it off mid-way.

The pre-quals to the Star Wars saga. The Phantom Menace right through to Revenge of the Sith, dont get me wrong I love the SW films but these just failed to hit the spot the same way A new Hope, Empire and Jedi did.

Rambo III and Rocky Balboa. Both films could have been missed from the series as the other films are miles better.
I wished we had First BLood-Rambo-then Rambo4. That would make a great trilogy.

Underworld - Could have been done a lot better.

Grease II & Dirty Dancing II ( not seen them but I cant see them being any good)

I remember the time Mrs CM was going out with her mates

She gave me a knowing look and said ' I've got a special film in the video for you, AND you'll need a box of tissues.'

Great stuff

Scoffed dinner, threw her out the door, turned up the heating and stripped off, with me trusty box of tissues

The film was Schindlers List.

Four bastard hours I sat there, and not one thing worth wanking over.

Phone Booth- Just pure poo.
We Own The Night-Joaquim Pheonix,Marc Wahlberg and Robert Duvall.A decent cast but slow moving and a crap ending and a waste of a good opportunity.

Looks like we have a challenge on our hands here.

Can we come up with a film that everybody thought was over-hyped cack?

I liked it too, whilst it wasn't fast paced, I didn't think it was particularly slow.

I think most of the comic-book films really disappoint. Apart from the 70's Original Superman and Tim Burtons Batman ( and Batman Begins) I cant think of many superhero films that have lived up to the expectations of the fans.

Personal opinion, of course, and I acknowledge that I'll be in the minority, but here are my 3 disappointments:

1) (And a very clear winner) - Lost in Translation - pretentious twaddle
2) (Getting ready to be called an old fart) - The Matrix - watched it twice and thought it was naff both times
3) (From my protective bunker) - Star Wars - never been impressed with any of it
