King Kong remake was shit yes imo
No need for the 1st 45 minutes. Built up characters that got killed off quick!
Effects were very good and action sequences were good but not good enough for 3 hours!

To be honest a lot of this is about expectation. If a film gets talked up or is notorious then you expect so much from it and then it is difficult for it to deliver

I am just off to see WALL-E now, got preview tickets. Seems like it is meant to be a very good film indeed, will let you know when I get back...

Any film that I've already read the book of generally disappoints.

This always seems to be the general feeling.

Although the films for LOTR and The Green Mile both did the books justice - to say the least.

And the adaptation of (what become) The Shawshank Redemption is much better.

What strikes every time I check back in this thread, is the amount of films I either have in my collection or wouldn't mind getting.

Just proves that it's all subjective and one mans gold is another mans.....well.....shite

Do agree though that the more somthing is built up the harder to live up to that hype.

Some do manage it though in my humble opinion

Both Stephen King works.. you could almost add Stand By Me to this list. Its a very good movie, but the novella (The Body) kicks its ass.
