Default Contribution based jobseeker's allowance - Do I pay for dental treatment

I've just qualified as a teacher but have been unable to get a job yet

I'm having some dental work done but I'm going to the dole office tomorrow to sign on for about 5 weeks.

From what I can gather from websites etc as I will be applying for contribution based JSA, rather than income based JSA which provides free dental care, I'll have to pay for my dental treatment.

Can anybody ITK confirm if this is the case?

Cheers

If nothing has changed since since the last time I was unemployed (1992) you don't pay for dental treatemnt on JSA. However, if you have the 'knockout needle' at a dental clinic, instead of jabs in the gums, you have to pay for the anaeshetist.

You also get free eye tests, so whether you wear glasses or not, you may as well have them done.

I don't know if this applies if you're only out of work for 5 weeks though, as they have loads of stupid rules.

Contributions Based Job Seekers Allowance is a non means tested award which entitles you to NOTHING you need to apply for help with health costs using the application form HC1, this will take around 3 weeks to process and send you back a certificate of either full help or partial help

Income Based Job Seekers Allowance is a means tested award and your automatically given FULL help with health costs

Its my department who deals with the low income scheme and any refunds needed, so for anything else u need mate, just get in touch

Far be it from me to tell the long term unemployed to get on Incapacity Benefit a.s.a.p.

1. It pays more after 26 weeks

2. You don't have to traipse down to to the Jobcentre to claim it.

3. They won't send you for a job yet, but they're working on that.

And the Blair party cheered ' UNEMPLOYMENT IS DOWN '

Of course it is you fcuking idiot now tell the public about the vast increase of how many are on Incapacity Benefit instead.
