Default anyone good with fixing wing mirrors?

when the missus says "oh yeah, had a little bump with your car..."

was expecting worse but looks like only damage is the mirror on the wing has popped out. not sure if i should just push it back in or whether a clip has snapped in order for it to stay in?

completely clueless with car stuff so any thoughts would be appreciated

would this be enough to fail an mot (doubt it, but its due in october and its gonna be an expensive month as it is)? just thinking that if it would cost to fix then i'll just cellotape it in (its on springs but not stable in the wing socket), but not sure if that would be enough?

Ali, Whats the make and model of car please.

Reason for asking is my brother owns a garage and he will be able to tell me what to do.
And also tell me about the MOT situation

What kind of car is it?

Usual you can unscrew the panel from the inside and just nip down the scrappers and get a spare(for about a fiver) and screw it back on.

its a ford fiesta finess (2002) - cheers.

the actual unit seems ok, but the mirror doesnt sit stable - i can see the 3 bendy chords that you can change the mirror view with but it doesnt seem to push back into the holding bits around the side - cant see whether they are broken or whether i just need to push harder (which not doing at the moment in case i end up breaking it)

Ok Ali.

He Tells me you need to keep the mirror central to the socket that you are pushing it back into.

A liitle bit of brute force is required to snap it into postion.

Failing that, if it is broke, Yes you can tape it upandmake sure it is secure for its MOT, so long as the glass is all intact it will be ok to go through.

Hope that helps ya Mate.
