Default 172mph speeder !

From the BBC....

172 fcuking mph

Motorist admits driving at 172mph

Timothy Brady was disqualified from driving with immediate effect

A motorist has admitted driving at a speed of 172mph on a road in Oxfordshire with a 70mph speed limit.
Timothy Brady was driving a Porsche 911 along the A420 near Kingston Bagpuize when he was caught in a routine speed check, Oxford Crown Court heard.
Brady, 33, of Harrow in north-west London, will be sentenced in September.
The speed is thought to be the highest recorded in the UK for such an offence. Road safety charity Brake described the case as "shocking".
If you want to do that speed why not go to Silverstone

John Melling from Kingston Bagpuize's parish council

Brady denied a further charge of aggravated vehicle taking.
Rachel Burr, campaigns officer for Brake, said: "The idea that someone was driving at that speed is shocking and horrific.
"The chances that a person will be able to control a vehicle at that speed if something unexpected happens is slim.
"It is extremely selfish - they don't have the right to put other people's lives at risk."
John Melling, who is clerk of Kingston Bagpuize with Southmoor Parish Council and has lived in the village for 14 years, said: "A lot of people don't even observe the 30mph speed limit through the village. "Driving at 172mph is quite amazing. If you want to do that speed why not go to Silverstone?" Thames Valley Police said they would not comment on the case until after Brady was sentenced.

Ive been caught doing 152mph.

Gods honest truth, well I did 152mph but went past an unmarked police car at 124mph due to the twisty roads nr longpreston/settle road.

I was on my CBR900rr Fireblade, but to my defence I was on a country road/A road at 8am Sunday morning on a well known stretch of road that Bikers use.

Id never do it again( My frontera doesnt go that fast unless its down a mine shaft being pushed by a Rocket) and I can see why the powers that be have jumped down him but ( I wish I had the stats) havent the most accidents been caused doing 30mph?
I was reading a bike mag a few years ago about speeding and they said that 1% of motorbike accidents happened above 80mph.
Most were the normal speed limit of 30mph
I've had 2 main crashes whilst on my bikes and both of them were at 30mph or less.

Whilst im not condoning his actions but

I bet he was more in control of his car than some slit-eyed asian ninja with 4 kids in the back driving at 45 mph in a 50mph zone.

yes its wrong but fook me theres worst crimes to be done.

At 30 mph in a smash you have a chance. At 172mph they scrape you off the road.

I'd lock him up for a while, and crush his porsche. When allowed to drive again make him drive a lada. Try getting done for speeding now

Yeah but at the point of you deciding to do 172mph you have already checked out the , traffic, road conditions, time of day, chances of getting caught?

Your average joe bloggs or Mrs mahatmacoat wont know what fooking day it is.

Im not saying its big and clever and I didnt mean to come over as that but the bloke knew the oppertunity of doing it without a fatallity or at least a real low % of a fatality then your average bloke/woman on the road.

excuse the spelling fingers arent working so well

Speeding in a Lada or any other car would be MORE dangerous than doing it in a Super car with nigh on perfect braking system and suspension etc to cope with the demands of such a high velocity

btw,

the coppers who pulled me aside for my 'crime' gave me overtaking on double white lines and £30 fine.
I told them where I was going ( Devils Bridge up Kirby Lonsdale) and as it happend they were bikers themselves.

I guess I was lucky.

Its 172mph. On a public road. Theres no way doing 50 mph in a lada is more dangerous.

You can only check out so much. Whats the stopping distance in the car at that speed even with good judgment. What if an old fart had pull out 1/4 mile up the road. Theres only so much you can allow for really.

He's lucky to only be getting done for speeding, mind you if he'd crashed he'd have skipped the arrest and court altogether.

One of my old Uni mates died on an unrestricted Autobahn when the tyre on her car (a merc) blew out at 155mph. No one can allow for stuff like that happening (just ask the Hamster). God alone knows what carnage this guy could have caused if the same had happened. He is lucky just to be banned. Should have been chucked in jail for several years. No excuse for Speeding, unless you are an emergency service vehicle.

only a personal opinion here, but having worked with people who were in the 'had a chance' category, if it was me I'd rather be dead tbh - i accept that not everyone sees it the same way, but with significant damage to yourself and the insight to know how the rest of your life will be, it seems worse than dieing.

my concern would be the people coming from the other way - if you kill someone whos doing 172/driving dangerously, thats your life changed forever too, regardless of whether you are at any fault.

A couple of months ago the police estimated the speed of a motor bike on the A47, not far from where I live. They would have nicked him but their car was flat out and he was still pulling away from them and they never got the plate number. It was estimated at well over 170 m.p.h.
