Default Unders/Overs question

In case you didn't know, this is the football/soccer market where you choose between whether they'll be more than, say, 2.5 goals in any given match, or less than 2.5 goals.

Anyway, I'm concerned I'm missing a trick here . . .

Take an Unders market of 1.8, and I think the match will be UNDERS

I can back Unders (at 1.8) or Lay Overs (at 2.2), it's the same thing, isn't my ROI/Yield the same either way ?

I suppose I'm just trying to understand if there's a reason why people prefer to back or lay in a two-horse market which is around 101% of the book . . . .

I know it's a pretty thick question, but we all have blind spots and a reassuring ye or nay would be . . . reassuring. Danke.

I'm not 100% sure but as far as I can work out your ROI/Yield should be the same no matter if you back or lay as long as the odds are inverted correctly.

BTW the odds which you quote should be 1.83 inverted to 2.2 or 1.8 inverted to 2.25 (5/6 = 6/5 and 4/5 = 5/4).

Thanks for that.

Fwiw, the only diff I can see is that (on the exchanges) one or the other might get matched sooner than the other.

Cheers.
