Default Help with bet types (I am new!)

Evening all,

I am trying to place an accumulator bet on PaddyPower, predicting the winners of 6 football matches. When I go to enter my stake it comes up with a whole list of bet types.

To keep it brief, I think I am after either an "Accumulator" (1 line) or "Fivefolds from 6" (6 lines). Am I correct in thinking that if I enter my stake per line as, say £10, the Accumulator bet would cost be £10 but the Fivefold bet would be £60?

Also, what is the difference between these two? Does the Fivefold mean 5 of the 6 results must be successful to get a return? If this is the case, why did it not come up with "sixfolds" (or whatever the name for 6-fold bet is)?

Any help woudl be gratefully received.

Many thanks!

Well, I am new to betting aswell, but I think I might be able to help you, Hopefully someone will correct me if I get this wrong.

The Accumulator bet is relying on all of the outcomes to win, and if one of them loses then that will be bet over, no matter how many of the other ones you get right.

I think the "Fivefolds from 6" option means that you need 5 of the 6 selections to win for you to be sucessful and you will have a better chance of winning some money as there are 6 different permutations of how you can win, but at the same time because there are 6 lines for betting, you will then have to place 6 times the money on this type of bet?

I hope that makes sense and is correct, surely within the next few hours a moderator, administrator or experience punter will be here with a better more concise answer for you ,

Also, on PaddyPower, if you click on the bet type, then a whole list of explanations will follow I think, try that and see how you get on.
Good luck with you selections and to PL.

info above is pretty good and should help you.

one thing i would say is that if you are this new to sports betting, then perhaps starting with very minimum bets in order to get to grips with what you're doing may prevent a nasty bank statement down the line. if you're good at what you're doing then money will make money.

and to PL

When betting in multiples like football, especially with a 6 fold or more, it may pay to try and make 2 of your 6 matches 'bankers'.

You can then have these 2 bankers with any other 3 from the remaining 4 matches, in 4 x 5 folds. which lessens your total stake.

If one of your bankers gets beaten, you weren't going to win anyway, so you save on losses.

Thanks for your help, I had already looked at the PaddyPower help section but did not find it very explicit.

a pretty standard bet years ago and very easy to settle if you worked in the shops, especially if one of liverpool, man u etc had got beat.

sadly, nowadays take one of them to a shop now, either it is refused in the first instance, or if it is taken, will more than likely be voided if wins by the manager (aka the muppet behind the counter) bcos they dont know how to settle it.

Probably right S.S.

Big 3 staff are not exacly going to set the world ablaze with their knowledge of betting. The shop I work in would take it. We're an independent, and so is my mates shop, he'd take it as well, no problems.

I saw a chinese bloke try to put on an 8 horse bet some years ago in a Roy Christie shop. He asked the cashier to ask the manager to look at if before they took it. He refused it as he said he couldn't understand it.

It was written like this : -

horse A
horse B
-----------
horse C
horse D
--------
horse E
horse F
--------
horse G
horse H

£2 win yankee.

The bloke explained to me what the bet was. It was simply counting two horses as one selection. Four winners from any 2 pairs, gave him a 'double', (a 4 fold) 6 winners from any 3 pairs have him 3 'doubles' (3 x 4 folds) and a 'treble' (a 6 fold) and all 8 winners gave him the full yankee (6 x 4 folds, 4 x 6 folds and an 8 fold). Looked easy enough to me.

I tried to explain it to the manager on behalf of the chinese bloke, but he couldn't grasp it, and wouldn't phone his head office in case he looked stupid.

Instead, he refused to take it.

a bet i use to like doing was a tricast like this

1st: T1,T2
2nd: T1,T2,T3
3rd: T1,T2,T3,T4

I make that 8 tricasts, one upon time (far long ago!), 50% of managers would spot the calculation was right straight away, the other 50% would understand after less than 30 seconds of explanation, that the staking was correct.

nowadays i wont even bother with it, nothing more annoying than some spotty 18 year old muppet, trying to explain to me that the above bet is 2*3*4=24 bets and that i'm the stupid one!!

If an 18 year old, or whatever age he/she is, as a manager, he/she should be able to see quite clearly that it can't be 24 bets, assuming they know what a tricast actually is...

Luckily I don't go into big 3 shops much, because I'm not the patient type and would soon 'lose it'.
