Default DRAWS

Does anybody focus most (a fair amount) of their betting on backing draws? I must admit I haven't looked too deeply into backing draws but given the odds available (99% time over 3s) I think it's time to start investigating.

Any ideas that board members have towards this style of betting would be welcomed - I don't tend to use more than last seasons stats combined with recent performance and gut feeling when placing my wager, which seems adequate for wins but not so sure about draws ?????

Yup, draws in some leagues are very good, but not in others. Have a look at:

www.betbrain.com/odds/odd...lator.jsp?

Sweden is excellent, with 31% of matches being draws. You can almost always get 3.3+ on draws at one of eurobet, luvbet, betandwin, betinternet or willly hill, which is great value :-)

The Italian lower leagues also have a nice high draw %, but there are less good odds available because most bookies are suspicious of fixed games :-)

On the other hand, some leagues are not worth betting on draws. Norway comes to mind.

Default Draws

There were some discussions about backing draws when a team, I think theaway team was above a certain level, 7/4 or something like that. I can't remember which forum I was in but seeing as I have started to do this and been quite fortunate in the results, I think it's something to look into.

I only go for draws if I'm betting Double Chance.

IMO most punters fancy one team or the other to win a match with the draw being seen almost as a cop out option.
Punters who use some kind of draw system will no doubt view things differently.

I could be wrong but I wouldn't imagine professional tipsters would be giving draws to their clients very often, if at all.

If you consider draws a cop out what about EPL, so far this
year nearly a third of results have been draws, surely you must take this into account.
I do all the time as I usually bet X or 2X and get a high strike
rate, but not so good on British matches.

Don't think so.

In general draws happen with the same regularity as away wins and looking at some games it is incredibly difficult to choose a winner.

But to put you money where your head says it should go is very much a balancing act.

However it is much more satisfying to pick draws. I only make the effort because a number of my picks turned out to be draws - says something about my methods - but the draw is clearly a profitable avenue.

Which is what I am starting to notice more and more. I am in the process of devising a little system to try and exploit this. Obviously will test it first but a paper effort last week produced a profit.

Don't think any system will produce a vast amount fo profit ever but draws are beginning to interest me more and more.

I wasnt much interested in draws, but with my "is it a system or not" system, I have 6 bets out of 7 draws bethistory

I think it is because the odds for draws remain relatively stable at around 3ish, to me this doesnt add up, as surely the chances of a draw can and do vary. Take the next prem matchs currently I have got Ipswich Town v Bolton Wanderers at 67% for the draw, but the odds given will still be around 3.

Not sure how they work out the odds for a draw but they dont seem to take into account the teams playing which in my few is an opportunity

I too have tried betting on draws. Have had some good runs
in the past, most failed bets seemed to be aways.
Then I saw that for some leagues the home/away+draw ratio
is as low as44/56.(current EPL 39/61)
Why not bet on both?
So this is rather like asian handicap +0.5 except you can get better odds (usually) by using two bookies.
In most bets of this type the odds for the draw will be 3.00-
3.20 but the away odds in most cases higher.
Your minimum odds per match 1.5
Best strike rate on weekly basis 20-30 bets 92 percent.
Using this method still requires a good selection system, the
selections I make will be posted under betting2X,they will
usually go on the day before the match.
I'm sure some of you will think this is daft, but how much do
you make backing bankers at 1.20.

Default This looks interesting

Osesame,

I like the idea of covering the away win in your method. I have been looking into draws for a couple of weeks now with moderate success. Until now I have been choosing 2 teams and backing the singles and doubles (at lets say 1 point stake X 3 bets) therefore, only needing one result to come in to at least return original stake. If both come in then excellent. Trouble is, more often than not, one of the selections will falter and so there should be some added security to avoid this - I am not particularly looking for huge profits so a system covering the away might help to build a steady profit.

I look forward to your selections

re steady profit:
Week 40 (Tip-Ex) there were 21 selections giving results of
14 aways,5draws,2homes.The first result was an away at 2.7
and there was no negative period during the week.
Both home results occurred in English soccer,at the end of the
week 133 points profit.
Going back to week 29 when looking to see if method worked at any time 12 bets 1 loss profit 58 points.I then went through weeks of records and always in profit.
When you have backed a draw and it fails is the result usually
home or away?
