Type of Odds Please help!!

However I'm a bit stupid, it seems, as I have some difficulty understanding all the different possibilities and permutations of the different types of bets. In particular the type where the handicap is a something-and-a-quarter or something-and-three-quarter quantity or sometimes even a zero quantity.
Please can someone either explain them or supply a link to a site where they are all explained clearly.
There seem to be a lot of different possibilities :
1) +0.5
2)-0.5
3)0 & +0.5
4) -2 & -2.5

1) +0.5
team gets a 1/2 goal head start effectively meaning your bet wins if they won or draw
2)-0.5
team gets handicapped by starting 1/2 goal behind effectively meaning they have to win for your bet to win
3)0 & +0.5
1/2 your bet goes on a 0 goal head start - the other half of your stake goes on +0.5
with 0 handicap, you lose the bet if the team loses, you get your money back if its a draw (commonly called a push), and you win if your team wins

4) -2 & -2.5
again, bet split into 2 bets - half stake on -2 goal handicap and half stake on -2.5goal handicap
with -2, if your team wins by one, draws or loses, then you lose your bet - if they win by two goals, then you get your stake back and if they win by 3 or more, your win
similarly with -2.5, if your team wins by one or 2 goals, draws or loses, you lose and if they win by 3 or more goals you win your bet
