Default Secure Web page for opening account

Hi,

I want to open an account with Pinnacle and Betdaq.

But when I went to enter my personal details as far as I can see the page isnt secure i.e. the page is just 'http', not 'https'.

Has anyone else noticed this, and should I worry?

Thanks

I'm not an expert, but I think that just means that when you requested the
registration form and their server sent it to your computer, that wasn't
encrypted, which is not a big deal. What matters is that when you submit
the form with your personal details, that should be secure. Pinnacle has
information on their site detailing their security, and certainly claim that they
use strong encryption for submitting personal details, though as I said, I'm
not an expert, so I couldn't confirm this.

Dont have a Pinnacle account but recently opened Betdaq. As with most company's - The details page is NOT encrypted when sent. When you get to the matter of adding a card or Payment details, then this IS encrypted and secure. Im assuming this is standard practice as Ive encountered it on most sites. If you feel that you dont want to send your personal details sent then the simpliest way is to open an account over the phone..... (just make sure its not tapped!! )

I think it is. Just had a look and the details page is "https". But it's displayed
as a frame, and the overall page is "http" so what you see in the address
bar doesn't say "https". But if you get your browser to show just that frame
then it does show as "https".

Thanks for your thoughts gentlemen.

I'm reassured by your comments, but I'm going to email Pinnacle first just to make sure.

As soon as I get a response I'll share with the forum.

I just received the following reply, which to my mind seems to suggest that whilst credit card details are encrypted, other details may not be. Maybe i'll just open an account over the phone! Jimbo

JJ, you're safe enough with Pinnacle or Betdaq, I have accounts with both.

The fact remains is that people will always be clever enough to break in and get information, but getting credit card details is a hell of a task for anyone I believe.

You will always be on a non secure page when browsing their websites and i think all bookmakers, are the same, it's makes their site perform better, it's always secure when access your own details or send info though.

I just looked at the HTML source of the registration page, and submitting it
does use https:
