www.lazybet.com Just come across this, and it looks attractive on the surface. Does anyone here have any experience of this kind of thing?

I'm the MD and founder of lazybet.com. We're the first big betting syndicate comprised solely of 'ordinary punters' who only need to pay £20 to join. We've already sold enough shares in the tote ten to follow to have far and away the biggest perm ever in this £1m competition and we may well have a crack at the £2m pot in next Saturday's scoop6. Come in early on the revolution. Joe McNally Last edited by PLAYLORD; 30-10-2004 at 22:39.

Always do your sums before joining this sort of syndicate. Just had a quick look at the site and, for example, they've set up a 2000 share group to target the Top Ten to follow comp for the jumps season with an estimated top prize of £700,000. If the group won this prize and you had one of those shares then you'd get back £350 which is OK but not exactly life changing. Even winning a £2M Tote jackpot with one of 2000 shares is only £1000 which is again very nice but you're not going to be retiring on it. And of course these examples assume you do win (and I haven't taken off the 7% management fee either !)

The way I read it was that, if they win the Tote Ten to Follow, then you don't get £350 as they are going to put £500,000 of the prize money into a draw, split into £250k, £150k and £100k prizes. I think you only get £100 if they win. (Unless you are one of the three lucky shareholders who gets one of the three big prizes).

Well, well, well - does anyone even think of joining this kinda thing? This is called an airplane, pyramid and umpteen other names everywhere in the world. The same scheme - the chosen ones win, the lucky rest gets money back + some change, the unlucky rest loses so that the "management" can lead a "lazy" life. C'mon ![]()
