After being along time user of betfair I decided to try out another exchange. So I deposited some money with betdaq on Monday and began betting with them. Yesterday I placed a bet on under 2.5/3 goals in the xamax - st gallen match. I had never seen asian handicap unders before so I checked the rules to see how they worked. There rules for this bet: Bet Under 2.5/3 Goals and you win at your matched price if there are 2 goals or fewer scored in the match. If there are exactly 3 goals scored in the match half your stake is returned and the other half is multiplied by your matched price This bet sounded very good as only 4 goals would see me lose so I staked heavily, £140 rather than the £40 I had planned to bet. Now the problem, the match finished 2-1 and I figured great, I checked my statement and the bet has been classed as a loser and half my stake returned. So I emailed them to complain figuring it was just a mistake as happens sometimes. Today I got an email telling me the bet was settled correctly as there was a mis-print in the rules. Who do you think is in the right? Are they allowed to do this? My bet was placed in good faith according to there rules and now they tell me the rules were wrong? Doesnt that at the least default the bet? It seems to me I have a good case and they say they are registered with IBAS. I will be contacting them if I cannot resolve the matter. What are your opinions on this? Do I have a case? Do you have any experience with IBAS?

Sounds like if there was a mis-print in their rules they've not got a leg to stand on. I would go at them like a rottweiler if I was you mate. Give Paul Ross a PM too and see if he can ruffle a few feathers over there. Rules are rules and bookies / exchanges could use this "mis-print" excuse in their rules for anything unless you stand your ground.

Hope you get at least your full stakes back Maximus. However I would say one thing, and I don't want to sound like some smart @rse here, but it is always advisable that to know what your betting on and the rules without having to refer to the sites rules. I know you should be able to trust the sites rules but if it was a new type of bet then I would have a double think about it to ensure everything seemed correct. As you said, you had never seen Asian Handicap style bets on over/unders before but I am pretty sure you will have seen Asian Handicap prices on the normal match result. Now if you think about the same handicap on the match result - 2.5/3. You would know from there that if picked the underdog and they lost by 3 you would lose half the stakes on the 2.5 part and half your stakes would be returned for the 3 part of the bet. So applying the same thinking to the over under, its logical (although obviously not to Betdaq rules!) that half your bet is on under 2.5 and the other half is on under 3. And if there are 3 goals you lose on the under 2.5 part. As I said, not wanting to sound like some smart @rse after the event and hope you get your cash back but sometimes if a bet looks too good to be true, it is. Good luck.

Yes this is a fair point. I should have checked the rules elsewhere before placing the bet. Its also true that I have used asian handicaps and in hindsight the bet was similar to -.25 rather + .25. At the time however I didnt make this connection, asian bets being at times confusing. Your post doesnt give me much hope of recovering the money, though I believe I am in the right, since the rules they used at the time the bet was placed state that I should have won. Thx for responding
