Just tried to back Juventus to beat Triestina at 1.3. Bet was not accepted so attempted to place a smaller stake twice. Both bets again not accepted. So I emailed them to ask what stake I could have on. In the meantime they cut the price to 1.24, then attempted to say the reason for not accepting the bet was as they were in the process of changing the price. I don't believe a word of it. Had this problem before where they change the price before letting you have a bet, even at limited stakes. Not talking massive amounts here but it's infuriating when you have deposited the cash. Would love to know if anyone did get anything decent on at the 1.3. Also heard a story that they have refused to pay out before on a bet which they actually accepted. Don't know the ins and outs but certainly wouldn't surprise me.

| Don't all bookies generally have rules that allow them to do whatever they want, including changing odds that have already been accepted? For instance, dragged this from a bookies site: 'Every effort will be made to ensure that all information available on the [bookies] internet site is accurate. However, if an error is made in the prices or conditions published on-line, we reserve the right to correct any mistakes and to settle any bets already laid at the correct price. ' I guess they have to be reasonably careful as doing things like you've mentioned just leads to disgruntled customers, who tell people of their experiences and take their money elsewhere.

All bookies act like this to some extent. 1) To attract customers a bookie will occasionally offer odds that are better than anywhere else. 2) Punters will then hammer the odds, placing loads of money until the bookie starts looking at making a loss if the selection loses. 3) Then the bookie will shorten the odds. This makes the bet look unattractive compared to elsewhere and hence not much more money gets placed. So probably you will get this everywhere else as well, not just Globet. That said however, I think that Globet are probably a small bookie and so maybe they can't handle the prospect of any loss, and so maybe are quicker than others to shorten their odds when the line starts getting hammered. (Personally I think navigating through the Globet site is very onerous.) Last edited by HeinousAnus; 19-10-2006 at 08:27.

My complaint is not that Globet decided to change their price. It's the fact that they rejected my attempts to place the bet then changed the price. Lost count of the number of times prices have changed after placing a bet, especially in minor leagues with smaller firms. But not before you even get the chance to place a bet of some description. Even if they'd limited me to say £20. Anyway like HeinousAnus certainly won't miss navigating their site.

Personally, when I try to place a bet at Globet, I have to navigate through about 5 or 6 different screens just to get to the bet slip! It is just the worst site to navigate through ever. This is only a hypothesis but perhaps the Globet employees find it similarly hard to get anything done on the site. Maybe the site is so badly designed that the only way they can change the odds is to completely remove the line for half an hour or so. Maybe. I can just imagine some poor employee sitting there clicking through page after page, trying to do something that is really pretty straightforward. Last edited by HeinousAnus; 27-10-2006 at 18:38.
