Default A few betting questions from a newbie!

Hey all, hows everyone doing?

Im new to betting and have a few questions:

1. Are bookmakers (online and the shops) allowed to put restrictions on your account if u are a consistent winner?

2. How much commision is charged by bookmakers on ur winnings? do different bookies have different commision rates?

Thanks!

First of all to PuntersLounge

In answer to your questions:

1: Yes they can, certain bookies are more likely to do so than others though.
2: Only the betting exchanges Betfair/Betdaq/WBX etc charge commission on your winnings. Normal bookies dont.

no bookmaker is obligated to lay a bet to anyone it is their choice to strike a bet and you have to remember than bookies are businesses and in it for the money, they do not want to give their money away and if you win too much too often they can even close accounts

I know people who are banned from william hill shops and online their maximum stake on horses is set to £0.00

With regard to restrictions:

Skybet really don't like me

I told bet365 I couldn't deposit anymore with a certain payment method and they said I couldn't change it so now I can't deposit with them - I think that's a restriction

Coral don't let me have much on either - apart from in the shops

@ danj2202:

The people who you know that are banned..do u knw hw much they were winning/staking or wat there betting their betting pattern was?

@ Mr Intensity:

Why dont Skybet and Coral like u - how much were u winning/staking with them?

To any1: Wats a punter suppose to do if he gets restrictions put on their account - If he gets limits on all accounts with all bookies...does that man he wont be able 2 bet again?

Other punters... hence the only limits are the amount of cash available to be matched.

Bookies will limit you as they see you as an unprofitable customer.

On Betfair you are betting against an anonymous punter. So you dont know whose money you're taking.

As Betfair aren't risking any money themselves and profit from comission, its actually in their benefit for as much money to be matched as possible.

Therefore the only restrictions on how much you can bet is how much money is on the market.

i.e. Right now there is £8300 @ 1.07, £2600 @ 1.06, £3000 @ 1.05 and more available to back Man Utd to win. As long as the moneys there when you get matched there's nothing stopping you from having around £15,000 on Man Utd to win on prices between 1.07 - 1.05.

Usually £500-£1000 at odds of evens or 10/11

I get u wat u mean now, thx 4 explaining. So absolultley none of the odds are layed by Betfair themselves?

What happens if you bet against an anonymous punter and u win - but they do not have the money to pay all ur winnings?
