| If you bet on a website and accidentaly click on the wrong bet, they are usually not going to change it for you (in a changing market), tough luck, punters pay for their mistakes in hard cash, the bookie in this case is asking for you to pay for THEIR mistake also.I suggest that you invite the bookie (in writing) to prove that a mistake was made so that you may consider the request to refund them the money. If you had made a genuine mistake then I think that it would be contentious. However, your attept to "win" is an attemt to deliberately defraud and you should examine your conscience whilst awaiting the summons. I suggest that you ask how best to return the money and murmer something to your bookie about a "free bet for goodwill" - no strings attatched though. As far as bookies are concerned a free bet is only a short term loan anyway! I once genuinely bet (on the internet) at a price out of line with the market at 5/1 and the bookie only paid me later at 5/4 (reflecting the market generally) the windfall would have netted me an extra £1.5K. Unfortunately we bet on faith that a bookie will honour the price offered and I know of no other business in which a counter-party may renege on its agreement and get away with it. Imagine if I had arbed in this instance to take a guaranteed profit, the bookies action would have cost me a considerable loss. Try to imagine if you were to trade with an online stockbroker and they tried to ammend your windfall profit, they would be in jail now! In these internet times the law needs to be ammended so that bookies cannot change their prices after the bet has been placed. Try to be honest next time otherwise you may not be able to place an online bet anywhere! ![]() Last edited by Londinium; 18-09-2006 at 17:40. |
