Default Betfair withdrawal problem

'Sup.

I've been using betfair for a few months now and won a decent amount. I have 307 quid currently in my account. I did have 387 but recently withdrew 80. When I withdrew that £80 I did so because I couldn't withdraw the full £380 - something about having to withdraw the amount I deposited with that card (debit/ visa elec.). I have also used paypal to deposit money - £15 originally, then withdrew £90 (back to P/P) and later put it back in betfair to fund a bet. Now I'm trying to withdraw the remaining £300 (to my card) but I get this message:

Your withdrawal request cannot be accepted. In order to be able to withdraw via cardy (Visa Electron) please check that on all the other payment methods you have used (PayPal) you have withdrawn at least the amount you have deposited.

What the hell does that mean ?

BTW, I know this sounds like a riddle.

then withdrew £90 (back to P/P) and later put it back in betfair to fund a bet.

You'll have to withdraw that £90 back to PayPal.

ie...please check that on all the other payment methods you have used (PayPal) you have withdrawn at least the amount you have deposited.

Alot to do with "Credit card fraud" protection and "Money Laundering"..I'll have a look later and post up what I find...

No.

say, somebody finds/steals a credit card (can also be MB/paypal/neteller account). The card obviously does not belong to him but he sets up a betting account, deposits money form the card and tries to withdraw to his moneybookers account/via paypal etc. he won't be able to do so because of the 'closed loop' rule: your withdrawals need to be at least equal to deposist in order to transfer money out via any other way.
This rule has been introduced at Betfair to keep your money & account safe and secure.

I am having serious issues with betfair at the moment with regards to withdrawing my money. Basically it is the same problem as above in that I have deposited using the following 3 methods and roughly the following amounts:

1. Card 1 - Deposited £1700
2. Neteller - Deposited £200
3. Card 2 - Deposited £100

Card 1 = This card has now EXPIRED and has been removed so I obviously can't withdraw to it.

I don't use Neteller, it is a $ account and I do not want to withdraw £200 to that account and face fees and hassles to get it back to my bank account. I deposited with Neteller in excess of 12 months ago and I do not use the account and can't remember the details.

Card 2 = This card replaces card 1 which expired, ie it is the same bank account.
-------
Now, Betfair are not allowing me to withdraw to card 2 until I withdraw £200 to Neteller and at the moment I am refusing to withdraw to it using this method.

Can someone explain why I can't withdraw to Card 2 which is exactly the same bank account as Card 1. It isn't my fault that my card expired!

As far as I see it this is my money and I should be able to withdraw it however I wish. I don't recall seeing any warnings when I deposited that I would have to withdraw the same amount using the same method.

I hope the above makes sense.

Have you phoned them up...?

BTW the warnings are in T&Cs, they arent obliged to flash them up in your face or anything.

Em, clearly not!!!

Betfair emailed me back (AGAIN) this morning and have removed my neteller account so I can now withdraw to the valid card. So all sorted

I still don't see why they were making a fuss when all I was wanting to do was withdraw to the same bank account I have always deposited with... anyway no more issues.

Just for future reference - Call them , E-mailing betfair is never the greatest or fastest idea to solve any problems and they can verify your details there and then - Glad you are sorted
