Default Betdaq against Betfair ..

Is it just me or BetDaq are a bit more generous than Betfair?

The size of this discount, or your Discount Rate, is determined by the number of Betfair Points you have accrued on your account. Betfair Points are earned in proportion to your betting activity - the more you bet, the more points you accrue, the greater your Discount Rate. Please note that your discount rate will be capped at 20% unless you have completed Betfair's Know Your Customer check requirements.

You earn Betfair Points every time you bet on a market. You will earn 1 point for every 10 pence of commission paid (if you have net winnings) or implied commission (if you have a net loss). Betfair Points are awarded equally whether you win or lose.

Betfair commision rates:

Example:
You have net winnings in a market of £400.
The Market Base Rate is 5%.
Your current Discount Rate is 40%.
Therefore the commission you pay is £12 (£400 x 5% x (1-40%)).
You earn 120 Betfair Points.

While BetDaq:

The standard commission rate is 5 per cent, but you will be able to bring that down to as low as 2 per cent depending on the volume of bets you have matched. You will gain one BETDAQ commission point for each £25, $40 or €40 won or lost in each market. At the end of each week (0400 Hrs Monday) the points you have earned in the previous seven days will be added to 85% of your total carried forward from previous use to give a figure that determines your rate for the next seven days.

In my calculations the 2% of Betdaq can be achieved easier. Have I done any mistakes?

I haven't looked at the figures but you're probably right. Problem is, as far as I'm aware there still isn't the liquidity of Betfair at Betdaq.

You are pretty much right, but most of the races are fine. Especially the good cards. I am betting at Betfair for so long now and only managed to have my commission 4,9%, while around 2000 Euro won and lost together does your commission 4,75% at BetDaq. I will soon reach that and it is far far easier. But you are right WFTE, the markets are still not that liquid.

Shall we move this to bookies and exchanges?

Its always good to have an alternative to betfair who do have a bit of a monopoly on the exchanges. A bit of competition would be nice for everyone.

I use Betmate which is basically a Betdaq skin but you only pay 3% on all markets and only 2% on Asian Handicap markets.

I try to give Betmate as much liquidity as possible and the more people who do the same can only be a good thing as the monopoly of Betfair is terrible just check the forum everyday is a different scandal.

That looks very cool. Prices available are the same as BetDaq. Is it another exchange and just the same skin? Or it has something to do with BetDaq anyway?

I use Betmate.. it is exactly the same as betdaq but as the previous poster said with a 3% commission rate. Betmate is sponsored by 888.com so im assuming they subsidise the commission in order to promote their poker and casino sites.

Yeap, realized that. Betmate for me then. 3% commission I'll probably never reach on BetDaq

i read with interest the only problem i have found with other markets apart from betfair is the amount of time they take to settle a bet

i will give you an example which i have come across loads of times

i have a bank of lets say £50 and thats it for my days betting

i have five horses and 4 dogs all running within 10 mins of eachother

i place a £50 bet on race 1 and it wins with betfair it is settled within minuites and i can then place my wager on my second bet of the day without having to withdraw from my bank which i dont want to do because inevitably when you see loads of money in your account you just tend to start betting silly and never seem to withdraw this helps with betting discipline with betdaq it takes up to an hour so if my first selection won and betdaq dosnt settle quick enough i then miss race 2 and 3 and if these 2 win i am then gutted and trundle off to betfair

i truly beleive this is why betfair has more customers

i did ring betdaq up about this and the response i got was we have to give all customers the same opertunity or something and i explained the same bet on betfair was settled already they said hmmmm well all i can say if thats your dilema use betfair i couldnt beleive it

so i just use betfair now

that and that only is the reason i stick with betfair

I have to say I completely dissagree with that... betdaq/betmate might be slightly slower at settling bets, however the only time I have had to wait more than a few minutes after a horse race is if there has been a photo.

I do prefer betfair though, there are more markets and the odds are usually better negating the 3% commission.
