Hey Fleet,

Why don't you either lay West Ham or back Birmingham and the draw and make a tasty profit whatever the outcome.

best odds draw 12/5 = £152.50 to win £365.99
best odds Birmingham 7/2 = £104.57 to win £365.99

So if West Ham win, I lose £257.07 protecting it.
Profit = £108.92

Draw = lose £114.57 (including original £10 bet) = profit £251.42
Birmingham = lose £162.50 (including original £10 bet) = profit £203.49

The question is do I want profit rather than the risk of no profit?
Or, being a West Ham fan at heart, pray they get an early 2 goal lead?

You know, I'm gonna be brave and leave it as it is:

West Ham vs Bottom Half of Table All Season:
3West Ham United (8)2514932231491.641.002.1430

Birmingham vs Top Half of Table All Season:
18Birmingham City (18)24121381022-120.831.830.506

Look at both team's ratio of scoring the first goal (both poor) and I think the first goal will be vital:

17West Ham United25936.0%
18Middlesbrough25832.0%
19West Bromwich Albion26830.7%
20Birmingham City24729.1%

West Ham get one up and Birmingham are doomed, having failed to score in 50% of their matches this season and having gone behind in 66% of them.

West Ham have a slight fitness concern over defender Danny Gabbidon, but the Wales international is expected to recover from a shin problem.
Goalkeeper Roy Carroll (back) is set to be out for another two weeks with his back injury, so Shaka Hislop deputises. (Good news if you ask me! )

Birmingham will be without Emile Heskey after he received a one-match for improper conduct on Friday. Damien Johnson is banned while Martin Taylor (ankle), Kenny Cunningham (groin) and Matt Upson (knee) are out.

I'll be at work but I'm sure the radio will be on.....

Bank still £157.04 after Walsall kick their way to a draw and Carlisle fluff a penalty during a 2-2 draw.

Next bet: £10

Edit: I see Coventry won tonight - not a single team tipped in this thread has actually lost yet!

Fri 17th Feb - Mon 20th Feb:

Mostly poor odds on the teams rated 30+: looks like I'll be having some bigger side-acca's.
CARDIFF rated 31 4/5
HUDDERSFIELD rated 41 1/2
NORTHAMPTON rated 34 1/2
CARLISLE rated 47 8/15
MORECAMBE rated 32 8/15

so I'll go for CARDIFF, CARLISLE & MORECAMBE.

£10 STAKED

Bank now £147.04 plus 1 outstanding £10 treble.

Excellent return on the 6-fold: well done.

the ratings obviously stand up and I shall be keen to see how this develops.

One thing, though, as a newbie can you explain this to me and how i do it myself, because i often back 1-1's and 2-1's regularly:

Permed in correct scores of 1/1 and 2/1 with:

10 x premiership
11 x championship
11 x league 1
11 x league 2
4 x conference
8 x conference north
9 x conference south
10 x serie a

74 x 2 four-folds = 148 x 10p = £14.80 staked.

Is it just 1-1 or 2-1 to the home team?

I don't do that any more.

Have you read the whole thread?

When I did it was 1-1 and 2-1 to the home team.

Good luck today FF I with you on these. How long have you been operating this selection method and with what strike rate as I don't think you have had one gone down on this thread.

Cheers LL

Having rated the midweek conference matches:

Accrington rate 34 4/6
Hereford rate 37 8/15

Gonna stick them in a treble with

Carlisle 8/13 LDV Vans Trophy Match
If this was a league fixture, Carlisle would rate 42.

Breaking my 'no cup games' rule but is based on the theory Carlisle are on fire overall
and Macclesfield are 'slighty crap' , gotta make the treble at those odds.

My biggest concern is Accrington - sooner or later, they'll slip up?
1st vs 2nd could be the time, although Morecambe aren't that fantastic away from home.

£21.16 staked in an attempt to return £87.35.
Bank now £168.20.

Thanks Kanga.

Midweek:
Accrington 2 Morecambe 0

Can anybody stop Accrington?
The more they win, the longer they will feature in my selections - it's the way the ratings work.
Let's just hope that when they do slip up, it's away from home, eh?

1 in, 2 to go tonight - I shall be rooted to the internet at work!

How do you calculate the ratings of the teams?

And what kind of odds do you get on each match?
