Whats all this new Trackback and Permalink options do?

Dont know either mate, its due to a vbulletin update and Im sure one of the more knowledgeable mods will be along to explain.

A Trackback is a method for web authors to request notification when somebody links to one of their documents. Basically.
and
A permalink is a URL that points to a specific forum entry after it has passed from the front page to the archives. A permalink remains unchanged forever, and therefore obviosuly is less susceptible to "link rotting".
