Broke serve in the 2nd to make it 4-2. Now just keep your serve son and you'll be 2 sets up, which'll leave just 1 set needed from the next 2

How the hell did he bottle that??? Had 5 chances to take the 2nd set when being 40-15 up and back and forth at deuce, only to go and lose it - doh! So it goes down to his serve and after being 40-0 up Lukas comes back to 40-30! Good job he took the next point to clinch the set

Not quite dancing in the street yet, but he now needs just 1 more set from the next 2. Come on!

Only snag is that Ive now got to go and drive half an hour to my pool match - hopefully theyll have a telly I can tune in to! Prob do my nerves a bit of good tho - update later on when I get back (probably about 12'ish!)

Fingers, legs, arms, upper torso, etc crossed

He certainly did!

Got to the club and turned on teletext to find out hed lost the 3rd set and that he was 2-0 down in the 4th - oops! Feared the worst but before I knew it he stormed back to a 3-2 and then a 5-3 lead before finally taking it 6-4. Top blokes those yanks you know!

So the bank now stands at £230.18. This is where it starts to get a wee bit brown trouser time I would say. The quest will go on however and the search for bet number 6 starts tomorrow - must remember though that if nothing stands out then to leave well alone. If only Id backed those other 3 tennis matches earlier Id have been on bet number 9! Ah well....

ps.. had considered backing Uruguay to beat Peru in the Copa America Cup...and theyre 1-0 down....phew!

Okay looks like its gonna be a no show today. There are a few tennis games that 'appeal' but not enough to take the risk. Just for the record these were either Dmitry Tursonov, Ivan Ljubicic, or James Blake to win by 3 sets to nil. Theyre all priced at 1.83 or 1.80 - well within the range. However the 3-0 win scares me, as its quite feasible for one of their opponents to nick a set - and also I cant decide on which of the 3 to plump for. After a good run I dont want to push my luck and therefore am staying away from the tennis today - which will probably get rained off anyway!

The only other interest is in Sweden where Hammarby play IFK. A cracking price at 2.20 as well. However more info is needed for this and Ive currently got my Swedish scouts on the job

If I decide to plump for it I'll let you know around 5'ish else we'll check about again tomorrow.

Early decision but Ive decided to leave Hammarby. Theyre a cracking price but Im just worried about the draw and covering it doesnt represent any value. So time to sit out

Good lad .. Discipline is the key here now.

No bets unless you are confident.

Today sees Wimbledon once again, and being sorely tempted by the large number of games available Ive just spent the last 2 hours or so scouring through them all. From a list of 13 possibles, I narrowed them down to 4 (its amazing the odds that are on offer suggest that some are bankers but when you check the form, etc I wouldnt be so sure!). Of these 4 2 stand out, and therefore - probably against my better judgement - Ive plumped for them both as bets no 6 and 7

I know Kev, I know, but its just that these 2 really stand out having looked in to them and just feel theyre too good to miss. Both matches kick off at 11 so this post is a bit short I know - apologies if anyone else wants to get on em. In fact I'll quickly stick em on now and then post my reasonings after. The first is Patty Schnyder to win the 1st set @1.72 and the 2nd is Mara Santangelo to win 2 sets to nil @1.83..........

Ok reasoning; Patty Schnyder fo starters is an excellent grass player. Shes ranked 15th and for me theres a massive gulf in the rankings in the womens compared to the blokes. Her opponent Vinci is ranked 49th and her only wins of late have come against lesser ranked players, one of which was 940th and managed to take 4 games off her. Shes lost twice in the last year to players ranked above her (24th and 38th) both by 2 sets to nil. Patty however has been in rich form and out of her last 11 matches shes walked the first set and has subsequently gone on to win 9 of them. With the odds of a straight Patty win being just 1.57, the 1.72 for the 1st set is much more attractive and more than feasible, hence the selection for bet number 6.

Bet 7 is Santangelo to beat Wozniacki. Not really rocket science this one. Santangelo ranked 29th compared to Woz's 103rd - a massive gulf in womens tennis. Santangelos also been in good form beating 27th seed recently, and although losing 2-6,3-6 and 1-6,5-7 these were against 4th and 3rd ranked players which will have gained her valuable experience. also shes 26 compared to Woz's age of 17 - a mere puppy on the circuit and her inexperience should surely go against her as well as her rankings. A straight Santangelo win was 1.30 - too low to be considered, but a 2-0 win gives a healthy 1.83.

So the best are on and its now 11:10. Both matches shouldve kicked off, but Im going to go for a quick fag and a breather before I check my fate and start with the old ticker!

And just to rub salt in the wounds shes walked the 2nd set 6-3. She'll probably go on to win the 3rd as well. Bloody wubbish Patty!

My thoughts exactly. Had time to contemplate it all now, and I must admit reckon I was a tad unlucky. I aint gonna let it put me off and am gonna have a go again.

And were gonna start straight away.

Bet number 1 is Nikolay Davydenko to beat Chris Guccione. Price is 1.66.... £10 returns £16.60

Good luck with this one, Davydenko is awful on grass and has only won a handful of matches... I saw Guccione playing on Monday (I think) he is huge and looked pretty good.

for you.

Cheers Aldric. I know what your saying Davydenko hasnt played a lot on grass. However he cant be ranked 4th for nothing and has won plenty of matches elsewhere, ie clay, etc. He only lost narrowly to Federer in the Roland Garros semi final earlier this month 7-5, 7-6, 7-6. His first round match saw him beat a 79th seed 3 sets to nil - tho granted these were close.

As for Guccione yep, hes deffo a grass player having played most of his games on grass. However hardly any of these have been against any notable players. The game on Monday was against a British guy ranked 102nd winning 6-7, 4-6, 4-6 - I didnt catch it but it certainly doesnt suggest it was an oustanding performace - lets be honest any British guy would make him look good

At the end of the day Im banking on Davydenkos experience to see him through, hence my reasoning for the bet.
