Default Why can't I reraise ?

I have noticed this before but don't know if only happens on Prima or everywhere and whether therefore I am missing some rule of the game ?

When BigDog raises all-in for $290 why did the software not give me the option to go all-in which is what I wanted to do ? The only options it gave me were to flat call or fold. OK I would still have lost to BigDog's 9 but you would like to think GoldenJaguar would have folded his 78os to my all-in !

Everything that followed after the flop was because I think I have been robbed !

That is strange... you should have been given the option to reraise...

Is it because the initial re-raiser (Bigdog) is all in, so you can't reraise him cos he has nothing left to call with??

Different sites deal with it in different ways - however I can understand why you cannot reraise in this case.

Ignore BigDog for a sec.

Your "relationship" with GoldenJaguar - You bet and he called your bet, At that stage you are "equalised" - you can normally not reraise.

The complication here is BigDog - he raises all in which is slightly higher than your equalised position with GoldenJaguar - so the view is taken that you can only play to the size of the stack of BigDog - hence call or fold, NOT that your "eualised" position with GoldenJaguar is undone - as it would be if TopDog hadn't gone all in .......

Is that making sense?

I'm not sure if this is saying the same as you in a different way, GaF, but the
usual rules are that if somebody goes all-in, thereby raising by less than what
would normally be the minimum allowed raise, then that doesn't reopen the
betting for other players.

Yeah, that makes sense... if the all in had been more than 1x BB Runadrum would have been able to reraise...

I don't know if that was what GaF meant either

I noticed something strange also, I think it was on Betfair, the blinds were 600 and 1200, I was on the small blind and put in 600, the big blind was all in with 450.

Two players called 450 and I was given the option of calling for less than I had already put in the pot.

or to put it another way.....everyone has called your bet up to bigdog who has gone all in, as its not the legal amount for a reraise, everyone is only entitled to make up the bet to bigdog as its not classed as a reraise

The minimum reraise would actually have been $180, the size of the last
raise, so if he'd gone all-in for anything less than $390 then the betting
would not be reopened ... I think.

Hodgey, I think that's because the other two guys in the pot had loads of chips, so you're allowed to reraise from the 5K to your 115K and put them all in with 33K and 76K. So you can make much more than the minimum reraise which would be 10K.

But I don't see the diff between my hand and runa's?

Ah - apart from the fact that run was first to act after the all in, and I was 2nd to act - maybe that's it?

Hmm, these are both Prima sites, aren't they? So it can't be because they're
using different rules.

The only difference I can see is that in Hodgey's hand, the all-in was the
first bet that wasn't just a call.

i think slap has it about right there, hodgeys hand the guy doing the inital raise wasnt capped, he was the raiser, so other players can raise on top. however if there had been a raise and a call already the under-raise rule would have come into effect(had the guy enough chips to raise the bet just a little)
