Default Virgin Poker to Send a PL'r to Scottish Poker Championships. Will it be YOU?

Sign up HERE

Joe hasn't been with Virgin for very long, but it hasn't taken him long to get settled and start dishing out the prizes. Now he has topped it all and will be sending a PL'r to play in the Main Event £1,050 No Limit "Double Chance" freezeout on 30th June 2007 at the Scottish Poker Championships in the Maybury Casino, Edinburgh.

How do I qualify?
The top 10 prize winners will be decided through a single 20 seat Freeroll Multi Table Tournament, to be played on 12th June 2007 at 20:00 BST.
We therefore have 20 seats to the MTT final to give away, and a multitude of ways in which to win them. Choose your favourite methods and give it your best shot.

Cash Poker
3 seats will be awarded to the 3 players creating the highest rake on Virgin between 11th May and 7th June. To be considered in this, you must "opt in" in the poll in the "Virgin Cash Poker" thread. This poll will be closed after 18th May. Regular (daily, on "working days") updates will be published. This will show positions, but no numbers.

2 seats will be awarded to the 2 players having the highest number of raked hands on Virgin between 11th May and 7th June. To be considered in this, you must "opt in" in the poll in the "Virgin Cash Poker" thread. The winners of the 3 seats in the "rake" leaderboard will NOT be eligble to win these 2 seats. This poll will be closed after 18th May. Regular (daily, on "working days") updates will be published. This will show positions, but no numbers.

Multi Table Tournaments
Sunday Games. We will have a private PL MTT on Sundays at 17:00 BST. This will be on 13th, 20th and 27th May, and 3rd June. It will have a $10+$1 entry fee. The winner of each game will win a seat. In addition a regular league table will be kept and the highest finisher, not to have won a game will be awarded a seat. For the league table, all 4 games will count. The 3rd June game will be a Heads Up tournament.

Friday Games. We will have a private PL MTT on Fridays at 22:00 BST. This will be on 11th, 18th and 25th May, and 1st June. It will have a $5+50c entry fee. The winner of each game will win a seat. In addition a regular league table will be kept and the highest finisher, not to have won a game will be awarded a seat. For the league table, all 4 games will count. The 11th May game will be a Heads Up Tournament.

The BPP after the focus game on 7th June will be awarded a seat. During this promotion, a larger than normal proportion of focus games will be on Boss. Only Virgin aliases will be awarded BPP points on Boss wide games.

Live Poker. The winner of the main event in Birmingham on Saturday 26th May will be awarded a seat

All wins must be claimed (and verified with a screenprint) in the thread set up, within 15 minutes of completion of the game. Remember that games won in this period will also count towards the "VirginPoker STT Challenge to WSOP"!!

20th May Blitz - A seat will be awarded to the player winning most $10+$1 STTs (10 seat counts as a win, 5 seat counts as half a win) COMPLETED in the 24 hour period from 00:00 BST to 24:00 BST. Multiple Seats
You are eligible to win multiple seats. Extra seats that you win may be given to a player of your choice. You will share 50% of that persons equity in the PL representative. So for example, Player A wins 2 seats and gives one to Player B. If Player B then wins the MTT, then Player B has first option to be the PL representative in Scotland (Player A does NOT have that option), but Player B only holds 20% of his equity in the live game. The other 20% is held by Player A.

Me!

Am I to take it that that the person who spends/risks his hard cash getting a seat, then spending 2/3 days in Edinburgh grinding it out has to share his winnings with 9 other people?

(N1 Joe and PL BTW it looks very interesting )

The intention is to give a lot of people a stake, rather than "winner takes all" .... so the short answer is "Yes".

If the winner views going to the championship as a chore/grind though, they are free to not go and, allowing 2nd place to attend, yet still take 40% of the winnings. I think most people would enjoy the chance to play an event like this, even if they "only" own a 40% equity in themselves.....

It's not going to change for this one, but would be good to hear some views on this prize structure to decide if we do similar in the future (so be brutally honest!!). Personally, I think it's an absolutely fantastic idea!!! It allows the big event prize, that we otherwise probably couldn't have.....

Looks great to me, something for every one at most buy in levels.

As my grumpy self I still have to find some faults though so being brutally honest,
The league with all four games counting makes it hard for me as I am "out of the country" next week so will miss two games. Limping into 5th place in a league table is my specalised subject.
And I think one or two of the seats for rake could have gone to the players with the most raked hands, thus allowing us smaller stakes players another oppurtunity.

Not my fault you're such a jetsetter glceud Seriously though - 4 of the 5 seats are awarded to individual MTT winners ... with just one seat for the league, I wanted to really reward consistency..... With a seat up for grabs every evening it runs, I thought that was incentive for those that couldn't make them all, and so wanted to try and give the other seat to someone who could.....

I can see what you're saying regards rake/raked hands - no promises, but will give it serious consideration This doesn't start till 11th May, so I may have the opportunity to change that tomorrow

Agreed,If I wasnt away i wouldnt have said a thing.
As I am sure you are aware any success in leagues I have enjoyed is more down to persistency rather than consistency

I like the idea, it's like a free e/w bet on the highest ranking PLer going over. Faults? Maybe but remember you are getting a £1,400 package and quite a thrilling experience in a big buy-in event.

This looks awesome - I'll definitely be giving a number of these options a go!

Well done Joe

My only suggestion for future would be to allocate a little bit extra of any money won - maybe around 10%? - to the person who actually plays the tourney. After all, one needs an incentive to trek all the way up to the frozen far North .

This looks excellent - might give some of the MTT's a bash!

It's not going to change for this one, but would be good to hear some views on this prize structure to decide if we do similar in the future (so be brutally honest!!). Personally, I think it's an absolutely fantastic idea!!! It allows the big event prize, that we otherwise probably couldn't have.....
I wasn't critising mate, just weighing it up. Never mentioned the word chore and grind was in the poker sense. A major tourney like this is a grind it is 12-14 hours a day for 2/3 days if I was the one playing I would want more than 40% (but i' m a greedy bastid) maybe

Its a fantastic idea and good luck to all

Excellently thought out, and the pay out from the freeroll, via the live tourney is a great idea.

My only problem is i'm on holiday for the freeroll final

also note for anyone whos qualifed for the live insidepoker final that its on the same day as that (Runadrum,Fenners,Croc to name a few)
