Default Poker Reading

Ok - I want to improve my game - I want to "study" - I want to learn. I want to specialise on one area (for the moment) - so want to develop "expertise" - at least as far as I possibly can - I've decided to stick with No Limit Texas Holdem Tournaments (moreso MTT - so concentrating on full tables of 10 players).

If I invest in one book - any recomendations on where I should start? What would be the best reading for me?

Cheers

Ive never read any books on poker. Just picked up bits and pieces from forums like this, experience and using my own common sense and judgement. Have a lot of you read books and have they been benificial? I may think about buying one if it will improve my game.

Thats the one GotAFancy....its big and weighty....worth the money tho, he is a tight fcuker but an excellent MTT player

Plow when I first started I devoured everything I could find on poker, you should see my gambling book library in general . I agree everyone should develop their own style and playing by the book might make you good, but never world class....however I think your average person who dismisses reading poker books is missing the point slightly, they can really help you improve your game, particularly in the early days.

Found the said book on Amazon and the review was pretty good. Haven't really thought about buying a book on poker, but then Ive never taken it that seriously. I never really set out to be world class. But if like you say, buying a book will make me an even better player than the top quality (7th in PL Freeroll) player I am already then the world better watch out A gambling library? When I started, I gambled all my money and couldnt afford books. (Made uni a bit more difficult lol) Leisureland on George St. has a lot to answer for, but then I discovered internet gambling. Thank fook.

I know - I don't understand why people are so down on 27 - I love it - it can get turned into a straight so often, and when it is, people just aren't expecting it - so you can clean up.

The secret seems to be not to go in too hard pre flop - that makes people wary and fold, which just reduces the size of your pot/winnings - so my advice to anyone is only a small raise with this hand......

Looking forward to getting my book
