| This game is a very good betting opportunity for one good reason and that is there is a very big slope at Batley. Usually these games are not televised, so there is no advantage as one team has the slope and then the other in the second half. But now it is televised I will be waiting to see which team is playing down the slope and back them to win the first half. You can do half time handicaps. Then in the second half I will back the other side going down the hill. The second half to me is where it is more important as defences do tire. I have been to Batlay many, many times and seen 10 and 20 points difference in a side playing up the hill and then down the hill. It is a very big advantage. Batley are the favourites and half time betting is -4 Batley and +4 Dewsbury with nothing taken into account for the slope. At some point you will be able to get Dewsbury with start and playing down the slope and this to me will be the bigger bet of the two. Also I am going to do half time/full time betting on both sides as this does come up a lot with the slope. Staking plan will be Batley -4 for one half £150 Even money. Dewsbury +4 for the other half £150, again even money. Half time full time Dewsbury - Batley 13/2 £30 Half time Full time Batley - Dewsbury 15/2 £30 The above bet will depend on who is playing down the hill in the first half and so only one bet will be had here. So if Batley are playing down the hill first then I will go Batley - Dewsbury 15/2 and vice versa. Total staked £330 and I will post the results after the game. Good luck if anyone else fancys dipping their toes in. Last edited by Karel; 05-06-2008 at 10:57. |

| Just a quick point on the above. A well respected member p.med me and asked if I would put staking amounts instead of cash amounts as this helps gauge how much I fancy a bet or not and placing stake amounts tells nothing. I agree with him and from now on will put a points system from between 1 and 10 of how much I fancy the bet. I would place the first half and second half handicaps as descrped above to 8 pts each half and the double result to 2pts. Hope that is easier to follow. Last edited by Karel; 05-06-2008 at 15:16. |

| Good post Karel. I'll be watching this game with interest, Batley should win this but this is a fierce local derby, anything could happen. Completely agree about the slope, its an abosulute shocker. Batley are well drilled, coached side with no superstars. Its a shame Franny Maloney is out for them as he really makes them tick, wouldn't surprise me if there is a couple of sin binnings tonight, always fiesty ![]()

| Not sure, when I've seen Dewsbury this season, they have conceded quite a few points, recently sacked their coach and I haven't seen them recently so they might have tighten up. I'm not punting tonight but looking forward to the game

| I'd forgot, but Dewsbury have signed Chris Charles, a very good player in the NL1, should be an interesting one

| Nice work Karel mate. Not a single point scored going up the hill . Unlucky not to scoop the lot too. Might be my mince pies going tits up but I thought that Batley conversion went over . |

| Well Done Karel, didn't follow myself but fantastic tipping. Poor game of rugby I thought, gives me a bit of hope that Featherstone may avoid relegation ![]() Sorry for the rant but due to these ridiculous franchise system, in NL1........ it is undecided how many teams will be relegated to NL2. The rfl have come up with 6 possible scenarios and we won't know until July. Surely that can't be right?

| Thanks guys and well done Kev on the double result.........I made a good amount on the game and really fired into Dewsbury at half time going down the slope as I thought they were the better side in the first half and that Batley although favourites were poor. I got 15/2 on the double result and backed Dewsbury at +4 at half time and had a touch on the spreads +7. If Batley would have kicked the goal in the first half it would have been a perfect night, but I really can't complain. Hopefully some people got on and made a profit. Batley are live on the T.V again next week I believe and I will be doing something similar depending on the handicaps/odds. Last edited by Karel; 06-06-2008 at 11:45. |

Thanks, hopefully Fev will pick up enough points at home. We play Batley at the end of the month away so after last night, I'm confident.
