Default Re: Tennis 14-20 May: Hamburg, Rome, Morocco

OK..today i found some games that caought my eye, firstly...

Mathieu over Gonzalez @ 2.21 @ Pinnacle
Despite Gonzalez did have some great performances in Rome, where he beat Volandri, Chela and Massu i simply cant get his previous tournaments out of my head - lost in both first rounds of Estoril and Monte Carlo. He just seems to inconsistent, while Mathieu is performing well on a regular basis - winner in Casablanca, 1/2 finals in Estoril (retired there), and is now performing well in Hamburg where he got thrtough the qualies and beat up to this match Reister, Henrych and Rochus.
Anyways h2h is 3-2 in favour of Mathieu - and most importantly he won last three matchups - last two this year (Estoril clay 6-2, 6-4 and in Miami hard 6-3 7-6).

Mayer over Nieminen @ 2.31 @ Pinnacle
I rate this one as a 50:50 match and is imo it could go either way, but looking at Mayers match vs Youzhny and a challenger in Dresden which he won he have a realistic shot of beating Nieminen today.
Nieminen did struggle a bit vs. another German Summerer (6-1 7-6) but falied to progress so far this year on clay not longer than second round - but yeah second rounds did brought him opponents like Kohlschreiber, Berdych and Hernandez.
h2h is tied on 2 a piece but the only clay match was won by German and i really believe German player has more chances to win today as books are giving him

From the other games Ferrer should beat Ljubicic, but odds are way to short (btw: Ferrero is 2-0 when playing Croat on German clay and 2-1 overall)
Also like Moya and Blake match to be an overish affair as this one is IMO bound to be three setter.
And in the Fedex - Ferrero match imo a bet on Spaniard to snatch at least a set could be a good choice.

Good luck today!

Schnyder-Stosur 1.37 on Betfair home win

Stosur played nearly 3 hours against Mauresmo with 2 tie breaks, finished quite late too in the evening.
Schnyder is coming back to form.

Hamburg: I want to take another time Lleyton Hewitt at 2.50 with Eurobet.

Hewitt vs Davydenko

Again too much high the odds for the australian player: Hewitt is a player more strong surely on hard and grass surfaces, but he has shown good form beating easily J.I. Chela and, statistically, he played good at Hamburg so even at Roland Garros, so I cannot guess he stand so "underdog" player even on clay and even against a court player specialist.

Davydenko should have best approach to this surface and that's the main reason to have him as clear favourite, but I don't guess he can repeat the same brilliant trend of the past season.
He seemed out of his best condition and he was never play impressive this week.

Watching for recent days Hewitt appeared more fit prepared and with many solutions to close the shots, while Davydenko is IMO searching for the best mental condition yet.

I agree with Florian...it was a suprise for me that Hewitt managed to beat Chela but if he can beat Chela he can sure beat Davydenko...

Competely agree with this, 10bet gives Hewitt +2,5 games. This looks like the best offer of the day

EventBacsinszky - Pin
SelectionBacsinszky
Strength10/10
Date17/05/2007
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 1.61 (Back)
ReasoningTimea should take this one.She has good record on clay and she likes to play on this surface. She won against Savchuk in the first round here which is rather good result.Pin on the other hand don't prefer this surface and she is playing rather average tennis this year.In the first round she won over Dubois but that result is not impressive at all as Dubois is really poor these days H2H is 1:0 for Bacsinszky. And that match was played not so long ago.GL

Maybe I'll be fixed on him...but at 2.48 (Pinnacle) I want to take again Hewitt.

Hewitt vs Almagro

It's the 3rd time in a row that I will take Hewitt (good the first 2), again to start as underdog and again to face a clay's specialist.

No more to add in front of precedent days: Hewitt is showing an unpredictable resistance against all specialists of red clay (he beated Calleri, Chela and Davydenko) and he cancelled the bad perfomance of Roma tournament.

Nicolas Almagro (currently ranked at 52th placed ATP) is sure a bad opponent on slow surface: no big numbers for him in the first appearances (16-11), but he's able to fight very well over clay.

Another hard match to wait for australian player, but as I watched for Hewitt perseverance yesterday and I guess he can go through also this round.

WTA Roma - Hantuchova at 1.70 with Betsafe.

Hantuchova vs Medina Garrigues

No easy match IMO for Daniela Hantuchova, cause Anabel Medina is a clay court specialist and she knows how to play on slow surfaces.

No big indications from yesterday matches: too much incconsistent the unexperienced italian Vierin (n.255) to create troubles to Medina (won by 6-1; 6-1), while Hantuchova controlled easily the match against the russian Chakvetadze (6-2; 6-3).

Daniela seems in good shape, as also I think about Medina Garrigues: so standing both players in good trend, I find more comnvenience to take Hantuchova with best baggage of shots.

I agree this is good bet, Hewitt looks very good this week, finding something like best form

IMO Hewitt will loose today, H2H is 0-0 with Almargro, Almagro is definitely no mug. I think he just might steal a set here, so Hewitt +3 games doesn't look that bad either, of coruse if he looses in straight sets, then this bet is gone And Almagro is not some Davydenko type of player who makes many UEs

Gonna take over 23 games in Hewitt - Almagro match. I expect both players to take a set at least. I know this is hard, but I think Hewitt can take at least one set here, maybe he can cause some troubles for Almagro
Since this is their first meeting and they don't know each other at all I expect a lot of easy points in first set and many won games from both players, I can't see many breaks here today, it's very unlikely, it's hard to break Almagro's serve, I think we have a 99% chance of tiebreak today

Underestimating this aussie is not a good thing.... tho im not particularily a fan of hewit u got respect the way he hangs in there at a constant basis... 2nite he is up against it with nadal and is so unlikely 2 win.... perhaps not the 8.50 price he is set at but surley a big dog... i feel there is value however in over 19.5 games @ evens... nadal doesnt seem to feel the need to close out games quickly an hewitt can hang on... perhaps take a set... over looks good as even 6-4 6-4 will do it and really hewitt is better than that... perhaps...
